F30 chip

My friend has a JB4 chip that he had had on his 2008 535....can that chip be transferred into my f30? The information about the juicebox 4 says that it works with 2006+ bmw twin turbo setups

No, sorry.

But a new one is $350-500, not a crazy amount of money.

It won't work
You will have to buy one that works with your car, lots of vendors here with great customer service so that should not be a problem.

PS - they're not called a "chip" any more - the ECU is modified either via a new software download/overlay or a "piggyback" ECU to modify boost/fuel/ignition values. Last time I was able to plug a new chip into an ECU was sometime back in the late 1990s.

I AM being nice! "Chipping" is an antiquated term when it relates to modifying ECU parameters. Last time I pried open an ECU and put in a modified EPROM, it was on a 1991 Porsche 944S2 Cabrio, and I did that sometime around 1995 or thereabouts. Learning to speak the language is part of communicating - most of the younger crowd thinks "chipping" refers to something that rocks do to your paint job.
