i recently got a software update for my transmission because of my unsmooth gear shifts...now my car revs to 1.75 rpm when i start the car... how far do yours go to?

depends on the altitude.

At 11-12k feet, starting the car will cause it to rev to about 2500 automatically.

At 6000 feet, it gets to about 1500.

My idle, like rambalu80, is around 600rpm.

my idle is around 1 but the max it gets to at start is 1.75...why is it? my area is not very high...

Mine looks like 750 rpms. Shortly after I bought mine (12/06), I went to the service department and asked about problems with shifting. They said they hadn't heard complaints from others. It sounds like BMW got enough of them to issue a software update. Can you tell me more about it or post the info from your repair invoice. I saw on another forum that they had issued a Step transmission software update for the X3. I wonder if it is the same. It sounded like they were trying to fix a similar problem.

hmm my problem is that the shifts around gear 2, 3 are really unsmooth as in you jerk foreward....it is really bad going up hill, if its what you got, ill dig up my service invoice lol....cause i dont wanna give you guys the wrong update and have your car acting bad
