Completely turn off traction control?

Everytime I try getting my F30 sideways, it kills the fun with some sort of traction control, although I have it in sport mode with traction off.

What's the deal!?

i thought after setting it in sport+, you have to hold down the traction control button for 10 sec to completely shut it off.

You won't want it in sport + (turning it off then will reset everything to comfort mode), try putting it in sport then turning it all off.

To turn it completely off, press the traction control button for 10 sec like the above poster said. You can do it in any mode, but if I recall for some reason sport + reverts to comfort steering/suspension/throttle while sport keeps those settings the same as sport with traction off.

Feel free to double check with the manual.

To note, pressing the button once or putting the car in sport + will just lessen the whole 'traction control' but will keep some nanny function in there so you don't get too crazy (DTC vs DSC).

you can't go sport or sport+ and have stability control off ,
turning off stability control (DSC) makes the car go in a different mode
not comfort not sport not sport+.
its between comfort and sport.
and there you are on your own... ~ Becareful ~

I still want to be able to snap off gears just as quick as when in sport mode. Guess I'll be trying this in a few minutes, lol. Will update!

I've never driven with any traction control enabled in either my 350Z or ISF and is the way I prefer to drive. Gives me more control over what I'm doing with the vehicle. I'd say it's probably more dangerous for me personally to have it enabled and not be able to control the vehicle via driver input instead of computer driven under typical scenario analysis.

So what did you have to do to turn it off completely?

Hold the traction button for 10 seconds. You'll see an indicator on the dash saying 'omg everything is off'.

Like someone mentioned, you don't want to do it in sport +. For whatever reason it'll go back to everything comfort (suspension/throttle).

I believe, and someone will have to double check, if you do it while in sport, it'll keep sport suspension settings, not sure about the throttle though. I played with it the other day just to mess around but didn't pay attention to how the throttle felt.

In Sport mode, holding down DSC will leave suspension/steering in Sport, but throttle will go back to Comfort (even level response).

This makes sense as you wouldn't want a super snappy throttle while carving up turns.

Now with the MPPK, comfort and sport are both beefed up with adjusted throttle mapping and power..

Best way to power over slide is turn off the DSC and put it to full manual cuz it's easy to get torque. Sport+ will only just let the tail to come out easily but won't you slide tho

Not quite sure. I held the button down and deactivated stability control this afternoon, but it still intervened while barely sideways and cut power. I have a 6-speed 435i. However, I was in Sport+ when I deactivated it.

Do you have it in Sport mode, not Sport+, and then hold down the traction control button to truly turn everything off?

Not exactly.
In MY2014 and with sw update of the previus ones, in DSC OFF program you will have these settings:
- Steptronic: sport;
- Adaptive suspensions: sport;
- Steering: sport;
- Throttle response: confort (this to allow you to dose power, as you are without DSC)

You have to read "DSC OFF" in you board display, otherwise you're not in that program.

I did. Held the button down, made sure the display showed "DSC off", and electronics would still intervene.

Very very strange. But what car do you own?

Boh... My 435i 8AT Msport in DSC Off has no electronic control active, except for EDL (Electronic Differential Lock) and you have to be used to oversteer driving...
By the way, have you got DHP with adaptive suspensions?

No DHP. That has nothing to do with this, however. It's the "electronic differential lock" you referred to which I can feel activating. Any way to turn it off? I don't wish to have one or both of the rear brakes clamp down when I don't ask them to.
