Driving to Florida....

I'm planning on driving to Disney sometime in spring and was debating whether to drive my 335 or FJ from NY. Considering, I get about 18mpg on my SUV- gonna have to fill her up quick a few times.
What do you guys think? Will that put alot of wear on my run flat and what happens if i get flat... will the BMW assist really assist. Any one drive long distance with their coupe here?
Any info or suggestion will be appreciated...
Thanks.

You're kidding with this, right? Sorry, but I think you should just keep your 335i in the garage at all times. Seriously, BMW Assist will assist you whether you're in NJ, FL, or anywhere in between, and of course, the 335i will run just fine on the highway. Now, you may be much more comfortable in your SUV for the 18-hr. trip down to Orlando though.

You will put as much wear on your tires as miles you drive, unless you plan on doing donuts or drifting on the interstate. I have about 12K+ on mine and they are still doing well tread-depthwise. I do not think you will be exceeding that. If you get a flat, drive to a tire store and replace it. That is the purpose of the runflat, no mess, no fuss.

Good luck with that. It will be a special order and a wait at any tire store. If you are lucky, the closest Bimmer dealer will have one.

Which is why going to non RFT's is more convenient no matter where you are with a flat. Theres always a shop somewhere near with a tire that will fit.

That is one of the reason I'm hesitant on driving down there. Run flat is great locally, but trying to find a place to replace them kinda sux.

Not kidding... just heard stories that run flat don't last as long and finding a place to replace them is a bitch.

And how often will you find one of those in the backwoods driving down I95?

I would rather have runflats than stop and fix a flat in say Camden, Jersey City, Newark or out in the backwoods where the Jersey Devil or some rednecks roam.

I've had these before and most Michelin dealers can get a replacement in by the next day. I can live with that for a superior tire.

BMW Assist would get you hauled to the nearest BMW dealer if it is >50 miles away. The dealer would either have the tire or have to order it for you.

Gonzo, I saw the "Zombie" and realized that you haven't used Captain Spaulding as an avatar yet. Rob Zombie will be disappointed if you don't.
