M Performance Package II
Hello
Just got a call from my SA, and he informs me that BMW Canada is no longer offering the M Performance Package II for the 335 and 435. This Package includes M Performance Exhaust and the M Power Kit. I wonder if this has to do with a possible new engine to replace the N55? Any thoughts on why the stopped the PPK? Cheers

Funny, my SA just informed me that the PPK is again available here in the states for 335/435. It was on hold for a few months. Power increase went from 20hp to 35hp

No, it has to do with BMW Canada being a bunch of shitheads how want to sell automatic 328xi's to soccer moms and logo whores and couldn't care less buyers who actually want a 3 series that can perform.

My CA emailed me last week and told me I was lucky to get M Performance Package II when I did because they aren't offering it for awhile. So must be true.

what was the reason given for not being able to get the ppk? i got my '14 (aug build) with it no problems, while people in the U.S where just being told they can no longer get them. I wonder if its possible that canadian cars got the older ppk version not the new one with the extra power, now they will take a break while the new ones start getting delivered to the U.S market first then Canada gets the new one in the new year?

What I was told (by the SA) that the email states that BMW is discontinuing the MPK II because of a shortage from their supplier. OK, that sounds like a lame duck excuse IMHO. Why do I say that?....the MPK II consists of some hardware (exhaust, engine cover, lower air intake replaced and some stickers) and software update. If I assume that the hardware is from another supplier, then they can still offer the software update as it is BMW in house. The software is not supplied by a third party. How do I know this?...because my present 11' 335 has the software update only, no hardware changes. So the reason BMW Canada are giving in the national email, is somewhat misleading and not being transparent in their excuses. 20/12.. got a call from my SA and there are 123 kits in Canada, and they are ALL blocked (reserved for the cars that came in but did not have it installed in Halifax), and can't be ordered. The software depends on the VIN #, so if any US posters read this would you be kind enough to check with your dealer to see if he can still supply the software, if yes, let me know and I will make the contact and supply him with the VIN # and have it shipped to me. I really do appreciate everyone's input. Thanks Cheers

Seems a bit ridiculous. There are already grumblings amongst enthusiasts, i.e., the same people who would want the MPPK, that the as-installed N55 really should get a power bump in the 435 / 335. You'd at least think that BMW would make it easy for this market segment to get the MPPK upgrade. It's a relatively easy thing to do with some supply chain management and market savvy; and not keeping it available sends a signal that this is a portion of the market BMW isn't overly concerned about. My $.02.

Yes you can...but they don't ship to Canada, only to US addresses.
Thanks

you can always get it shipped to a receiving place in buffalo and drive it back yourself. They provide the U.S. mailing address and charge by the week for holding it until you get it. Might be a good route to try!

We have the kit on our 435 (was installed aprox 1 week after car was delivered a few months ago).
I wonder if the availability of the kit has anything to do with the limp mode issue? Regards, CJ |

I would tone it down a bit with this widely insulting uneducated low class comment.

More likely that they switched their parts inventory System from IBM to SAP.. its been rumored that they have been having trouble getting it right across the enterprise...

If you dont need the additional space of the 4 series, I would think the m235 is the more performance oriented choice. Can't say for sure but I would bet its even a little faster though it is down 15hp vs the 435 with MPPK.
