DYno'ed my car ... : /

So today i decided to do a dyno pull on my car to see what i put down before FMIC install .. We'll I'm little disapoited .. 1st Run was in 5th gear i put down 312whp and 344lbft.. Second Run 15 min later was in 6th gear i put down 321whp and 370lbft .. all Runs Were on Dyno Jet.. My car is 2013 BmW 335i Msport jb4 Stage 2 , Challenge cattless down pipe.. on map 2 93 oct.. I think its all due to boost leak or something.. because when dattalog target boost was 14psi and boost was only 11psi max.. it might be couse i have a down pipe leak ? or charge pipe ? anywayz .. gone do some logs and send to terry see what he says..

Yeah, by most accounts you should be putting down ~340whp with that setup, especially in this cold weather.

If you're only hitting 11psi of boost then something is way off. Map 1 should hit higher than. Hit those extra few pounds of boost then you should see numbers you expect. Numbers look about right for Map 1 which is the boost that you were hitting though if it's any consolation.

I'm interested in what Terry says. Could very well be the charge pipe/some boost leak issue.

All the more reason to get aftermarket cp when boosting even a couple more psi. It's disappointing BMW uses such a flimsy component when everything else seems to be top notch.

Terry has a Dyno guide in the DIY section over at n54tech. He recommends 4th gear and has some other specifics you should follow. Worth a read prior to heading back to the Dyno.

A little hard to read but it looks like smoothing is set to 3. Could explain the bumpy line. I think most set it to 5.

If the weather is cold enough, I surmise these n55s don't put down full power. Here in NE Ohio, I've been getting around 3 mpg less than in warmer weather and the car feels "dopier" as well. Surprised no one else has commented on the diminished power output in cold weather. Could that be it?

Also realized it set to uncorrected which from what I remember gives the lowest numbers. SAE and STD have correction factors to supposedly allow a Dyno from different locations, altitudes, weather conditions, etc to read similar. Also from what I remember, STD will give you the highest reading.

We'll I got news from Terry and it doesn't sound so good .. I have an electric wastegate which limits my boost and won't boost above 12psi this explains it all .. My modding of the car has ended here .. I'll be running just jb4 .. On map 1 .. And I'll have challenge Catless down pipe for sale soon if someone interested ..

I might be interested. But don't lose hope he is still trying to make the electric wastegate work.

That makes sense and numbers look right in that case. Take off the dp and you'll probably drop 10-15 whp.

This. Or how do you tell if you have an electronic wastegate?

Sounds odd. In my 15yrs of turbo car ownership, winter was turbo season lol. Turbos eat air, and cold dense air is filet while summer air is ground beef.

The physics makes sense....but I think the computer is retarding the timing if it gets cold enough...

What else could cause the car to lose 3 mpg and feel dopier?

Only way the car would retard timing in that case if it overshot target boost/airmass which would be stupid to do just for dense air intake.

The bad running, could just be bad batches of gas-who knows. But cold weather is great for turbos, my N54 friend called me giddy when temps hit 40 degrees in GA not long ago.
