Sat nav question.

Evening all,

How do you go about getting the sat nav graphics to look like the ones in the second picture? is it just a case of a software upgrade or is it a bit more involved? I have pro nav in a 2009 e90 lci.

Thanks,

Ben.

Off the top of my head, pull the icontroller to the right, select settings & tick satellite. It does have to be well zoomed out to have the satellite overlay

This is only available on the later cars, the 2009 cars don't have the satellite imagery.

you need to update the maps, cost a bit at BMW but if you use Google and do a bit of research you can do it all for as little as £30

If you update the maps with the newer versions of maps then you should get the satellite images.

My car is a dec 2009 build with CIC navigation, I updated from 2009-2 maps to 2013-1 and I got the option of the satellite view and also full post code entry.

To be honest the satellite images are a gimmick, you need to have it zoomed out to a mile to view it, I tend to have it around 250/450 yards.

I could be wrong but I think all of the cic units in the e9x series are the same (with the exception of if you have got built in DAB) it's only the software thats different.

I've had a look at it but it's of little or no practical use

FYI I have a 2009 LCI with Pro Nav,

I (last week) updated the maps to the 2014 Europe version, but I still don't have an option for satellite images:

I don't think it's possible on ~2009 cars.

Updating the maps will not give you satellite imagery. You would have to update the CIC firmware to the later operating system.

I have a 2009 car with 2013 maps and I don't get satellite imagery. I do get 7 digit postcode though but that was only after a firmware update.

Can you update the firmware yourself or is it dealer only?

Any ideas how much it costs? (If via dealers)

Satellite imagery to works fine on my 2009 with 2014 maps. Just needs to be enabled with coding.
