MPPK pre and post install with MPE

I had the M Performance Exhaust installed at the port. I took delivery of the car because the MPPK was not available at the time.

The N55 with the MPE sounded pretty sweet and I was happy with it. About a month later, the dealer installed the MPPK. I noticed that they replaced the engine cover, air box, put the label on the intake pipe and the Sport Display now shows up as 400/400.

My questions are:

From my understanding, the MPPK adds 35hp (post July 13 build). However, in my driving with the MPPK, the car doesn't seem any more powerful, nor does it sound any different. (not compared to stock exhaust)

What exactly is the MPPK (is it mostly computer reprogramming)?

What does the MPPK airbox do? Visually, it looks identical to the one that came with the car.

Should I notice a bump in 35hp's?

Anyone else in the same situation as me?

Any input is appreciated.

It does indeed require about 200 miles of driving for the ECU to "adapt" to the new parameters. Sound-wise, the MPPK produces a more pronounced "burble" than without it, particularly in Sport and Sport+ modes. Steering tightens up in Sport Mode, and if you have dynamic handling, so does the suspension. Give it time, you'll notice a big difference. It doesn't seem to hurt mileage, either, at least not in an 8AT car. I've seen as much as 35mpg on the highway in mine.

+1 on what the other guys said. I don't have it but it's just a simple software update, basically a BMW tune. I'd think you'd notice a slight difference but it won't be anything drastic. The airbox probably does little if anything for performance but should allow you to hear the 'whoooosh' more

it takes about 150miles then you'll notice that it's like
1hp each 5miles

I think the new intake box has a slot on the box upstream of the filter for a higher intake of colder air. As for the real-feel, I have never driven an N55 with the MPPK but I would imagine the difference should noticeable. The vast majority of those who have reviewed it on this forum have vouched for its gains. Perhaps it is just that the computer hasn't adjusted to the new parameters but you should definitely feel more responsiveness and a stronger pull once the turbo spools up. Your exhaust should also have a more pronounced burble in sport/sport+ modes, as mentioned before.

Personally, I love the idea of maintaining my warranty worry-free but the cost of the MPPK outweighs its benefit IMHO. That's why I opted for a secondary tuning kit (ECU Tuning Group's tune for the F30 N55 produced amazing gains for me but most go for the JB4 stage 2). Make friends with a service representative and that person just might help you out whenever you take your car in for service. Mine allows me to keep all of my mods on and still get my routine service without the negative history notes going on the record.

the steering tightening up in sport mode is un proven imo. If it really did I'm sure BMW would advertise it. Seeing that they advertise other features like sport displays etc. (even though it doesn't change on an MT) car , i don't see why they wouldn't advertise a steering change even if minimal.

Based on personal exp i feel no diff in the steering, but in terms of power, agree with others- it takes a few drive cycles. Then one day you'll think you're in sport mode but be in comfort.
