test drove a e39 m5 and e46 m3 daily drive 335i
hey whats up guys. right now i have a 335i e90 stock. no modifications at all. i just wanted to share my experience between these 3 cars. i am 20 years old and previously had a cbr 600
335i- my first reaction when i first got this car. WOW this car is fast and agile. extremly tight steering wheel and superb torque. very enjoyable with the torque available at low rpm. although the car became boring after a month or too. e46 m3- first thing i noticed was steering wheel was no where near as tight as the 335i.(felt nice though) the car felt slower then the 335i when i was letting the car warm up obviously because of the torque. once i let the car warm up and redlined it in 1st and 2cnd gear first reaction was HOLY SHITTT. the sensation was insane after 5 thousand RPMS. there was 4 people in the car and it still felt faster then the 335i. the sensation of this car was amazing and i felt like a little kid with mini f1 car on the road. car had a supersprint exhaust. e39 m5. this car i drove a week after the e46 m3. this car also had a super sprint exhaust. this car really felt like a business mans sport car. it didnt have the raw feeling as the e46 m3 did. the m5 was fast but it wasnt mind blowing like the e46. overall i though the m5 was a dreamy daily driver and felt extremely luxurious. m3 felt more track oriented. after driving these cars even though the 335i feels boring i think its a AMAZING car and deff the best daily driver. i cant even imagine this car with a jb4. also this is my first post on the forums just joined! i know this is a horrible write up just wanted to share the expirence |

The e46 just seems real fast because there is nothing down low. The 335i is deceptively fast because it has a lot of torque and less noise than the e46.
I like my e90 and would not trade for an e46. On the other hand an e90 M3 trade would be a no brainer.

Totally agree. My car always pulls on an E46 M3. Did a few road trips in Germany in a friend's E39 M5...awesome 'bahn blaster, and held it's own on the twisties, drank gas like...well a V8 doing 140, other than that, I really dug it.

The 335I may be fast, but the overall package (stock) is not comparable to a well-maintained E46 M3 at all. In my opinion of course.

Yeah, M-cars will always be more fun.
Then when you tune your car you'll be like whats an M? But it will get boring again.
