How long do rear your tyres last?

I've had my car three weeks it has Bridgestone potenza run flats 255/40/17, being new to BMW whats a typical mileage on these tyres driven sensibly?

I'm almost at the end of my Conti SportContact 5s with about 12k on them. Various driving, fair bit of motorway and the odd spirited start. I don't cut around like a loon though.

Going to try Vredestein Vortis next.

I have a 1 series sport with dunlop tyres as a courtesy car for a couple of days and the tyres seem much less rigid than my bridgestones, so I might give them a go soon or pirelli p zeros.

TEE! HOw the hell do you get 38k with the camber you run on your tyres! I know camber doesn't kill tyres anywhere near as much as toe, but camber still has an effect!

What magic tyres are you running? or what are you smoking hah

here they were at 18k before i flipped them then i finally changed it 20k later. just your regular handcock v12 daily driven mostly freeway and no burn outs with oem toe specs. 45psi cold and never lost any tire pressure or debeading AND no curb rashes.

38k flipped

18k one side

Driving "normally" there shouldn't be much issues getting 25k from rears.

FWD cars wear out front tyres faster because they are doing all the work.

BMWs obviously spread the load and share the tyre wear out. Getting 10/12k out of rears means you are spinning them up a lot.

Tee gets good wear because he's effectively using half the tyre, and why he's being clever and flipping them.

Had mine for 8k now, they weren't new when I bought the car, and they've still got about 4mm left.

Why would that be?

A FWD car is always putting the front tyres under load. You are either accelerating, braking or steering. That's what causes the wear.

A lot of FWD cars have more weight at the front too.

A FWD car will wear its front tyres out quicker than a similar powered RWD car will wear its rears.

320d: Taking the winter tyres into account I swapped them for non RFT at about 20k, there was still a good 5k left in them but I just couldn't put up with the ride & noise any longer!

I got 20k out of my dunlop sp sport maxx tt's on the rear!

No burnouts, correct pressures and sensible(ish) driving and at 20k they still had more than legal tread across the whole tyre, about 2mm roughly!

This actually isn't a correct assumption. I got 10k out of my conti 5ps. It was a 325i vert...no really power available for wheel spins and im not road racer.
