Jb4/DP

Everytime I'm on the freeway and just flooring it, pushing it really hard, shifting around 6k.. Jb4 throws me into limp mode. And today I actually got "transmission malfunction" along with my drivetrain malfunction. Anyone know anything about this?

i had drivetrain malfunction when floored it 3k rev till 130-140mph in 6th gear (8AT)
was using map7 + MS109 racegas..
lifted off throttle and pressed it again it went magically like nothing happened..
plus there was no sound or anything since that day.

This is what happens when you go aftermarket tune. You're gonna have issues.

I'm seeing more people with tunes having limp modes. Its one of the reasons I want to wait until things get ironed out.

Im running a very aggressive map with 70% e85 and 19psi boost 95 000 miles on my car no problems, my friend has 40 000 miles stock already replaced turbos and HPFP ( twice for the HPFP) .
Tunes do not cause more problems if you do logs and make sure your car reacting well to the map you have. That is why after we sell a tune we still provide support and encourage customer to do logs and send it to us

There are 10x more people with limp modes completely stock than with tunes (the JB4 to be specific).

This is, in fact, the only time I've seen one with the JB4, but have seen a ton without. It could very well be the car not the tune.

The tune just brings in one more variable into the mixture. Sure it's possible it could be a faulty tune (just as we see OEM issues), but I don't think it's fair or logical as data would say otherwise that the JB4 is causing drive train malfunctions at a higher rate than stock or mppk cars.

Do you start your pull in low rpm but high gear? Say 2.5k rpm 7th or 8th gear?

Thats your problem
I had the same on map 5. But map 5 is not supported on f series yet.

If you let the gearbox shift it will downshift couple of gears. When you are in manual you are stressing the box too much in high gear low rpm. So just start your pulls at least from 3k rpm onwards.

My bet is it wont happen again.

Forgot to mention dont start pulls in 7th or 8th at all. 6th as of 3k is fine. Lower gears all is fine.

No issues with JB4 map 2 + ER DP + intake... I haven't floored it in higher gears from low RPMs but I mean you're bogging your engine by doing that so it may be normal that it's causing some issues.

It's like trying to drive off in a standard car in 5th gear, putting unnecessary stress on the drivetrain. Gears 7 and 8 are very tall gears and are solely there for fuel economy...
