Agreed ! With all above statements!
It's illegal and looks terrible! My first thought when I see italics or other non legal fonts is "must be a t*sser" |

Cant beat a standard clean legal plate, by that i mean the paper has not come away from the plastic and dirt has got inside, also try not to use bolts looks so much tidier

As everyone else has said really get rid of your current plates and just get some proper ones made up.
I am a fan of the clean look without any logos or borders. |

I had a 330bhp vw lupo, my front plate was a bit of metal with the number plate, s3 1upo ,cut out to let more air in, and painted white, in 2 years of owning i never got a tug

Ask a cop to measure it and tell you exactly what is illegal.
Its a standard size plate just with the ends chopped off. Its not 3/4 size or anything like that |

The number plate with Standard UK legal font can be shortened as long as the minimum spacing requirements are met.
Taken from the DVLA website: Character height 79mm Character width (except the figure 1 or letter I) 50mm Character stroke 14mm Space between characters 11mm Space between groups 33mm Top, bottom and side margins (minimum) 11mm Vertical space between groups 19mm So as long as you have 11mm clear of all text the plate can be shortened. I've been looking in to this as my reg is only 5 characters with a 1 so can shrink it down quite a bit and still keep it legal. https://www.gov.uk/displaying-number...-number-plates |
