F30/32 LED Bulbs for Turn Signals/Brakes Database & Info

Hi everyone, I noticed that any information about the LED bulbs used by members are very fragmented. You need to dig in deep in the forums to figure out the bulb socket types etc. I wanted to make a list for people looking into buying LED bulbs (incl. me, I only have the front signals converted, want to do the rear and brakes). So if everyone with LEDs can contribute, we will have a nice DB here. I'm pretty happy with mine, so I added them to the list. Please let me know if the numbers/type I write it in the list are correct. I don't know how to classify bulbs lol. Like are all number here necessary? "7507 PY21W 1156"

As you know 99% of the LED bulbs will flicker as long as you don't code it off. Here is the link for mine with photos/videos.

Possible, but do we have anyone who used them and can show us samples? I am just going to make a database with user approved bulbs that work fine, and bright enough.

Btw do you know if our bulbs are just PY21W or PY21W 1156s ?

Attached is my bulb card that I keep on my phone; my source for this was my 2014 328i owner's manual -- car came with Halogen.

Provides me a handy reference; while I have only changed out my fog lights so far, intend to change out rear turn signals (with WeissLichts) and reverse lights

Hope that helps

Thank you for this pdf. Makes it real simple to determine what bulb you need.

my front blinkers were 1156's (the pins are150 degrees apart) but my reverse bulbs were normal PY21W

Again, this came right out of my owner's manual

Regarding the coding:
  • First, I just listed L (left); of course, there are similar items for Right (R) -- generally each bulb has three coding entries: that it is LED; warm & cold checks
  • Second, am not sure about DRL coding; some say POL??

Glad to help!

I have the Philips X-treme Vision LED retrofits for stop and turn signals installed on a VW Golf.
These bulbs are very bright - brighter than a 20W Cree LED or 33x 5630 Samsung LED.
The appearance is less stylish than the weisslicht LEDs, but the ECE conform beam pattern is more important to me.

EDIT:
@ RSnic: Are you sure the f30 stop light is H21W as it is on the f32?
Here it looks like the f30 has P21W with Ba15s socket: http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...=704322&page=6

BMW_Fascinated,

According to my 2014 328i owner's manual; perhaps it was changed -- haven't taken it out yet so I can't confirm what manual says. Based on your concern, I checked both RealOEM and BMW ETK parts on-line, and according to both the bulb is a P21W -- so manual is incorrect

Anyhow, have updated my bulb chart (please see attached)

GREAT CATCH -- Thanks!

I have Weisslicht front ambers for the F32 coming in the next few days. I can report back on them if you want. Plan on decoding later this week or next week.

Instead of going LEDs, I just put Phillips Silver Vision bulbs in. They get rid of the egg yolk effect perfectly.

Any pictures of your new bulbs? Is coding required for the bulb check on these?

I coded mine, the reverse bulbs DEFINITELY flickered, I coded out the front blinkers before I even put them in. Still waiting on the blinkers...

I just got the weisslicht front LED bulbs for my F30 and I am very happy with the look and performance. they are much better than the ones from high performance bulbs I put in our X5. Not sure if the housing/reflectors for the bulb plays a part in that. Anyhow, I get the flickers at start up in my F30 and during driving so I will need to code those out at some point. Anyone in Sac who can help set me up or do it? The output is really good. not quite like the blow torches from my E90 LCI but definitely brighter than the stock bulbs. no complaints here.

Are these the correct front turn signal bulbs for an F30?
Philips Silver Vision PY21W

Also from what I'm understanding on this thread you have to code your car when replacing turn signal bulbs?
Help me out guys...
Thanks
