ED Trip (long but w/pics)

Ok so heres goes.

I left LAX at 7:30am, flew to Washington for the transfer flight to Munich. Arrived at Munich at 7:30am ON TIME. Weather was pretty shitty, no sun, a little rain, wasn't too bad tho, and not nearly as cold as I though it was going to be.

Went to take the S-bahn to Hotel. I bought the 1 day ticket for 10Euro which is a pretty good deal for me because its valid from 6am to 6am and my plane leaves the next day at 7:30am. The rail system itself is VERY VERY easy to navigate, you don't need to speak german, just look at the little chart BMW give you in the welcome package and listen to the announcement.

The hardest part was the buying ticket part. So after you select the 1 day pass button, and if your using credit card like me, after you insert the card you have to IMMEDIATELY press the green button (you have like 2 seconds max), if you don't it won't work, it took me like 15 mins to figure that out.

So I took the S-8 to the U-3 to Holiday Inn, checked in, took a shower and off to the Welt. Now on the map, it says the U3's last stop is olympia (the Welt exit) but not everyone gets off on that exit and the train keeps going afterwards i dunno why. Maybe they added another stop or the train just wraps around and goes the other way, so don't just sit there and wait for the stop that everyone gets off...LISTEN.

Short walk to the Welt...ITS AWSOME and HUGE. I walk to the info center this really really hot chick checks my backpack and showed me the way to the elevator to the third floor. I go to the elevator and this german elevator door guy won't let me up, i dunno why either, maybe I looked poor, so i checked all other elevators and realized that one is the only one that goes to the 3rd floor, all others are tourist elevators. so I go back to the hot chick (I really just wanted to talk to her again) and told her the dude won't let me up, she took me around the corner and bitched him out in german and I go up.

Now its approx 11am and my scheduled pick up time is 3pm. But i wanted to get my car asap because I really thought I was guna get lost later to HARMS (which I really did later) and they was able to get me started at 11:50am...Awsome.

At 11:50am this english speaking German guy came and started the process, he showed me this interactive projector thingy that bascially tells you how great this car is, and then to the computer similated driving station where he showed me the technology on the car with a kind of weird german humor...it was pretty tight.

interesting things he told me:
1) If you turn off your DSC and get into an accident, some insurance company won't cover the damage.
2) The navigation is on the right side of the screen because traditionally the passanger is the navigator.
3) the Entertainment is on the back side because of the pharse and I quote "backseat driver"

so off to the car, we walk down the stairs and he stoped me half way down and told me to look down, and... THERE SHE IS... on a turn table spining with a spot light on her. We were looking at it for a while form the stairs, and finally I couldn't hold it no more so I was like "umm seriously can we just go down there".

I went down there took pics and he showed me the car and this nice but not so hot lady came out and took a professional pic.
For anyone that's picked up from the welt you know that the platform where they give you ur car is right between the height of 1st and second floor, so as your taking pics and checking out the car, there are people slightly above you taking pics of your car and you, but they can't get to you because its not connected. I FELT LIKE A FUCKING MONKEY AT A ZOO... it was an exclusive but yet very weird feeling. after all is done, they let you drive it off the ramp and out to the street, I went down the parking garage and parked and went back up to buy a cap.

Now I pulled out the Welt garage and off to Harms. I got lost for an hour, im not going into detail how I got lost, but bascially it was due to the following 10 reasons.

10) I don't speak German.
9) People I asked for directions don't speak English.
8) Taxi drive like assholes and won't let me get out to exit.
7) I was driving like a little girl because I don't want to scratch my car.
6) I wasn't use to the roundabouts.
5) I wasn't use to the short notice on the exits.
4) I had no sense of directions because the sun wasn't out.
3) Apparently, Germans don't believe in U-turns.
2) Deep inside, I really didn't want to drop it off.
and the NUMBER 1 REASON OF THEM ALL!!!
1) Because im Asian

So I finally get to harms and Im pretty sure I made an illegal right turn at that street because someone was making a left and looked pretty pissed off. the car ramp is pretty easy to find, just go down to the very end of the street and the ramp to go UP is on your left. Go up, park and go into the Harms office, its on the 2nd floor. (you can ask the Welt for a english print out of directions)

there were a couple before me and form the time I sat down till its all finished it took 10 MINS, no joke, Thomas works really fast, and half the time he is speaking in an auctioneer speed and I have no idea wtf he is saying...didn't care tho, just sign sign sign, for all I know I could've signed my kidney away.
at the same time there was a e93 335i and 535 dropping off at the same time.

Walked a freaking mile and a half freeing my ass off to the subway.
Took the u-bahn to Mariaplatz the town center and walked around did a little shopping and ate. As soon as I walked up from the u-bahn station there were A TON of people and I could smell german food and theres a dude playing traditional German folk music on this piano looking thing (forgot what its called) and its was a really cool atmosphere (reminded me of the Young and Dangerous scene when they went to Holland if anyone seen the series). I bought a German pimp cup and everything else was outside my budget. and off to the restaurant.

I was told by this germany chick sitting next to me on the plane to go to this restaurant, it was really crowed because that night the Munich soccer team was playing and everybody and their mom is drunk. Since I went by myself I shared table with some other people. (I didn't know countries outside of Asia shared tables... it was an experience.) ate some food and drank some beer and started chatting with locals, they asked me what i was doing in Germany, and I said i went to pick up a car and I proceeded in the next 30 mins to try to explain to them why its cheaper for me to pick the car up in Germany when the US dollar is falling...they didn't get it. Finally I gave up and just said because its tax free... they got that. They also taught me how to say thank you in German which to me sounded really like "Donkey" and I thought it was really funny.

Finally after dinner, I wobbled my drunk ass to the u-bahn and went back to the hotel and watched some German TV which put me to sleep real good. Got the morning call at 4am took the trains to the airrpor and ended my awsome weekend.

p.s. this has nothing to do with the trip but when I got to the airport, my friend made me wait 5 hours at the airport because his dumbas$ didn't know that United and United Airline is the same thing, and I had to finally call my mom to pick me up.

Finally PICS!!!

nice review, do you have more pics of the welt? is the restaurant that you went to eat dinner at called hofbrahaus? that place is a pretty cool touristy place. Went last year while the welt was still being built, and it seemed pretty cool. You're pretty crazy for only one day and then fly back understandable at least, now your patience is gonna get the best of you, specially when you see other 335's out on the road.

I didn't go to the restaurant because i was only going to have 1 meal (dinner) in munich i want to go into town and have some local food.

Theres no pics of the hot hot chick cuz she was really busy (there were a ton of people) and I didn't want to just snap a pic of her seems kinda rude...i mean she is not a import model or something just a receptionist.

There was no more pics (well not for u guys cuz i didn't want my pics on the internet)

all in all I can safely say I saved more $ than the difference between the Euro and US invoice and that includes the plane ticket and trip spending due to the shortage and allocation thing dealers were having when I bought it.
