Did you use CS2 / CS3 HDR or Photomatix?

Interesting to hear. I have CS2 and find the HDR engine / features to be really lacking...photomatix claims a big improvement over the standard photoshop HDR tools - is it worth the coin?

$120 is $120, but....I can say that if the sw is really that easy to use to get quality HDR shots from properly bracketed exposures, then it should beat the h3ll out of the HDR tool in CS2. I have seen good HDR, know how to shoot it but the HDR function in CS2 is really lacking...so I think I'll drop the coin on photomatix.
Now, if HDR only doesn't become some kind of "fad of the day"...but with the advances in dynamic range sensors, etc on the camera side, I think we'll be seeing a lot more of extended dynamic range images (and a diff "feel") for some years to come.

Its worth the $ IMO ... Also I personally feel people like the Fake look of HDR ... I personally like shooting a car for example in HDR, and creating the shot in Photomatrix, then dropping the org of the car on a new layer so the car doesnt have all the shadows. It creates a image that looks some what realistic and shows all the highlights in the background. |

whats nice about photomatix also is you can use 1 RAW image to create a pseudo HDR image. you cant do that in Photoshop CS2

crop the 2nd picture so there is less black then damn you will have a pretty nice shot
![]() but then again I kinda like how you split the image in half with the city lights. It's all preference =P

HDR is already a Fad really... Been seeing shots used in mainstream ads, bummer.
doesn't matter though, still cool.
