Team Schnitzer's DTM race car transporter was engulfed in flames on the A9 Autobahn heading North on its way to the Oschersleben Ring for this weekend's DTM race.The damage amounts to more than 2.5 million euros.

The Team Schnitzer's DTM racing team truck driver realized that his race car transporter/trailer was on fire. He was able to pull over to the side of the Autobahn and decouple the trailer from the cab, pulling forward a few hundred meters. Polizei believe the fire was caused a brake defect on the DTM transporter/trailer.

While the DTM transporter/trailer was burning, inside the trailer a oxygen tank exploded and caused a truck traveling in the other direction(Southbound lanes) to make a panic stop. Another truck driver was distracted by the stopped trucks on the autobahn and had a minor accident with the stopped trucks. This fender bender amounted to an additional 110,000 euros.

No word on how this will impact Team Schnitzer's DTM racing and Martin Tomczyk at this weekend's DTM race at Oschersleben Ring.
