Looks like I'm the only one on Faust. It has departed Southampton and is into the Atlantic. w00t!

So it looks like the nasty storm in the Northeast has impacted the schedule slightly. Again ... this appears to just be for me at this point. I like to think my car is park on it's own deck.
Hopefully the upcoming weather won't add add'l time for those wishful for a Xmas delivery. The remaining ports/dates: NEW YORK, NY U.S.A. 16/12/2007 16/12/2007 BALTIMORE, MD U.S.A. 18/12/2007 19/12/2007 BRUNSWICK, GA U.S.A. 21/12/2007 21/12/2007 |

I'm on Faust
I dropped my car off in Munich after Euro Delivery, have been tracking the Faust @ bimmerfest.
Yeah the lame part about the website you're using is that it's not based on reality, it showed the Faust leaving (i.e. marked in red) Nova Scotia before it even got there. Those dates and status are only as accurate as when someone decides to update them. The good news is that it looks like it left NY, according to the site you're using as well as the port of NY website. Do you know of any resources online to track whether or not it's left customs and made it to the VPC? The owners circle website @ BMWUSA.com is notoriously lagging (sometimes by weeks!), so you can't use that. I'm in NH, our cars will probably be on the same truck. I had thought there might be a TINY chance we'd see them by Christmas, if it really was in NY on 12/14, but with the delays, I'm guessing we really have no shot. |

If I find anything out ... I'll let you know. My car is headed to Tulley ... so it is also headed to NH. I've just added a subscription to the bimmerfest thread and will update any info there, too.

interesting...
HARMS shipping tells me that my car was apparently released from customs (not released TO customs, but released FROM customs....!) on the 16th! I find this difficult to believe as the FAUST's delayed schedule didn't even have it arriving in NY until that same day -- @ 5pm! So, unless my car REALLY made it in and out of customs in just a few hours...... I find it hard to believe but I'm hoping it's true!
I've been trying to reach BMWNA to check to see if it's made it in and out of the VPC, but I've been on hold for too long and need to go to a meeting. Will try again later. update: bummer for me. It's at the VPC, and they have "a work order". I asked what a work order was, and they said that this means something is wrong (scratch, etc?) and it needs to be fixed. My elation from 5 minutes ago (i.e. possibly receive by Christmas) just turned into dread. She (BMWNA) said that she didn't have any information or detail on "the work order". I'm pretty sure I've read threads in which people have known what the detail is (i.e. scratch repair, bumper replacement, etc. etc. etc.). How does one get this info? Is there a way to reach the VPC? |

addl info
crossposting from bimmerfest:
(1) The work order I have is simply stating that it's 'in processing', there is no observed damage (yet). The workflow estimates the inspection will be complete tomorrow. (2) It also shows an estimated 'release' date (from VPC) of 12/29, which seems awfully far away, if there is no damage to repair!. What I learned, is that this is a worst case scenario, and is something that is updated as we get closer in the workflow process. For example, since they don't know yet (until tomorrow) whether or not there is any damage, they don't know if it will take longer to release from the VPC. Meaning: if there's no damage and paperwork completes tomorrow, it may get on a truck significantly sooner. Will need to wait until that paperwork completes to find out. Until then, they estimate worst case, i.e. 12/29. Thanks beewang for the offer to look into it, and thanks to TL (you know who you are), and to everyone else that lent their insight, it was very helpful! But most, a big thanks to the ED dept who really helped in looking into this! (some of them read these threads). A big thanks out to you! Now.... to pray for no damage, as they complete vehicle inspection!! |
