Who has driven Tail of the Dragon US 129?
I'm thinking about driving home from PCD on US Hwy 129 - the infamous "Tail of the Dragon." How many people on here have done that - what were your thoughts for better or for worse? Would you do it again?
The website for that road shows a ton of trucks jackknifed on the road, about to tip over, collisions between trucks and motorcycles/cars - so the road itself looks cool but don't want my new baby to be damaged before it even sees my driveway? |

I've driven it, and also rode it on a motorcycle. It's beyond scenic and def worth driving at least once in your life.
U do have to treat it with respect and drive very carefully for several reasons: - As corners open up, they simply beg for you to drive out hard, just to suddenly tighten up or surprise u with another corner. - Theres a lot of other drivers and riders with various degree of skill and caution. Some end up over their head and cross double yellow. So you kind of have to look out for that and expect someone partially in your lane beyond each blind corner. I would not worry bout trucks, they know to stay away by now. I say def drive it, just be cautious.

Let's go by night, that way it's more likely to be clear! It's not like we have a life or something.

I have no idea what that is. I go to my starbucks, ask the coffee guy to run away with me, I promise him the world, he says no and once again tells me that it's not me, it's the part that's missing in me he would miss too much, and then he gives me coffee, and tells me to go away. I seriously don't know what he gives me, but it's good, so good.

Travel by night would be a fantastic idea - as long as there are multiple Starbucks along the route (which we know there are probably no Starbucks for hundreds of miles around there...) I would need several quad grande Americano's to drive that road at night!! [Love ruining this thread - totally awesome...]

I always do my Milkruns at night. No traffic, and no cops. I need to girly up, and add milk to my coffee.

I don't think I've seen that movie. Sorry, I'm so off my game today. I had a shitty first half, and now I can't concentrate enough to form a sentence, I can't even call the dealers to find a car, since I'm pretty sure the shit that I write will come also out of my mouth.

I'm so ready for an idiotic road trip, you can't believe! This calm Washington attitude is really getting to me now, and I don't think I can make it much longer. I need action.
