Wife's car - Nissan replacing an entire door. Color issues?
A few weeks ago we purchased a 2014 Nissan Rouge for my wife's daily driver. It was a great bang for your buck car with lots of tech goodies...
The passenger front door has an issue where each time the window is rolled up and down a streak of grease is left on the glass. After 3 unsuccessful trys to fix the issue Nissan ordered a whole new door. Now im worried that the color of the door will not be a perfect match to the rest of the car. Anyone have any imput or experience with replacing an entire panel? Does the color always match from the factory? |

Are they sending a pre painted door? More likely they are sending a primed door which the dealer will have to paint. Any good body shop should be able to match it without any problem.
How do you like the Rogue? I have a CX-5 but the Rogue SL has caught my eye. |

I like the Rogue for the styling and the interior. You get a lot of tech goodies esp with the SL. Im not crazy about how the car drives with the CVT transmission. Since my wife was in love with the car we went ahead and got it. Overall, I feel like its the best car in its class - small size crossover in that price range. |

i wouldnt worry about it too much. it sounds like your car is fairly new so the paint hasnt had a chance to fade. as long as they use the same paint code then you should be fine. dont sweat it.

I would not worry about it. Seems drastic to replace an entire door just because there is some grease smearing on the window. On the other hand, this prevents them from having to take it apart and potentially having rattles. Nightmare.

What color is the car? Very metallic colors (like silver) are tougher to match, but with the car being so new and the door coming factory painted, I think you'll be in good shape.

First off, the door is going to come in bare metal and will have to be painted, also it comes as a empty shell and all the internal parts will be transferred from your door to the new one, it 100% DOES NOT come painted or with internal parts. So I don't see this solving your problem. And as far as the paint matching, the proper way would be to blend the paint on the passenger front fender and passenger rear door. I run a body shop and replace doors all the time and this is standard practice. If you have any other questions feel free to hit me up.

How does replacing a door solve the problem of grease on the glass?
Anyway 2011CrazE89 has a lot of experience replacing new doors.

Nissan can order body parts painted or not painted. Most likely it will not be an issue.
Most body shops blends both doors, so that the paint matches. I wouldn't worry about it.

Hey guys just got a chance to catch up on replies..
So I spoke to the SA from Nissan in person today and he stated the door arrives completely painted from Nissan... the car is gun metal grey. As far as the issue... they tried to fix it 3 different times. They took apart the door and would wipe off any left over grease and moisture. HOWEVER, the damn grease streak would still appear. The SA thought there might be some sort of gasket leak letting water in as well. I guess instead of chasing down a problem they decided to get a whole new door. I asked the SA what happens if the door doesnt match. He joking answered "then you get a new car". I'm not sure what would happen but I can tell you that the car only has 1,700 miles and im pretty fustrated. And for some reason... my wife loves Nissans. I did promise to love her no matter what bad life decisions she makes so I'll stick to my vows. |
