Techs often don't know a damn thing. I had to argue with the master tech and SA at my local dealership to prevent them from doing unnecessary work on my F87C because they were unable to correctly read the text in a TSARA case.

lol what a crock of shit….if the car was running at 80% power and then got the full power after the service that would be what a 25% increase in power from when it was delivered…Do you really think people would be having to ask if it does anything if they are getting 25% more power lol. Would be pretty damn obvious.

I’ve always been informed that yes, it’s only a fluid swap, however, the fluids in the car from the factory are different (heavier) than the standard operating fluids for the purpose of the break-in.
No, I don’t have documentation to back it up, it’s just what I’ve always been told. Either way, I plan on adhering to the guidelines when my car arrives. It’s only 1,200 miles of discipline for a little piece of mind on an expensive (to me) car. Not enough of an inconvenience to argue about it. |

From the few S58 break-in oil samples I’ve seen tested so far, the oil from the factory seems to have similar properties to the standard 0w30 LL-01FE oil specified, but with higher Molybdenum. The Molybdenum may just be from the assembly lubricant that is liberally used on journal bearings cams and cam followers, likely 50ml or so that mixes with the oil soon after first start.
The cam and journal protection from the assembly lube is only needed until the oil fully circulates. |

After my break-in service I can say the car does not have any more power or different feel after the service. What is happening is you're getting into the peak of the powerband when able to drive the car over 5500RPM.
