I hope they build a manual xdrive big time. I’ll never buy it, just think it’ll be cool. I don’t think anybody makes the perfect car. And for me that would a V8 estate with an S63 and selectable Xdrive. Cmon BMW, there’s like 4 of us that want that.

Not only does it do what a DCT can do but you can change shift speed from a snap your neck fast to a lazy luxury car feel.

The ZF killed the DCT.
BMW M literally posted a video at G80 release explaining they chose ZF for comfort, not for sheer speed (conceded M-DCT is "even faster" than ZF). Paddle response is also delayed esp. for multiple downshifts with ZF8 compared to DCT. It's simply not a track oriented transmission, although it "gets the job done" for some. Not for me.

According to them the M2 X-Drive might kill the 6mt M2.

Manual transmission cars are going away with AWD, hybrids, and eventually electric coming down the road. Porsche still offers a few…

Agreed there are plenty of cars that are an absolute hoot around town under 80 MPH....Was just going to mention WRX, STi, Miata in almost any flavor, any number of Hondas, BRZ/G86..etc. And if you have a manual any car with 400+ HP is also an absolute hoot driving around in 2nd gear all day long up to 80 MPH....I just need to hear and feel the GT3 scream for the sake of my soul, I don't need to be going particularly fast to absolutely enjoy that and have a grin on my face the entire time. The M2 and pretty much any electric steer M car (I think I've driven them all at this point) below 80 MPH is rather sterile if I'm being honest, too good, too quiet, too refined...but is one hell of a car.

With the fleet emissions obviously there are a lot of hybrids and EVs on offer , but I am enjoying the lesser HP 'niche' gas engine cars coming out that are lighter, smaller, and appear to be great performers (I'm seriously looking at you Ford Escort MK1 ) vs. the 400+ HP cars the manufacturers have moved toward which turn driving to the grocery into an effortless fenoly for most of us, including the soccer moms ...Slowly but surely the regs will turn all these cars into what us enthusiasts don't like, whether you're an auto/manual, RWD, AWD, FWD, or hi-lo 4WD person...the xDrive in the M2 makes perfect sense, ZF is boring but cheap and reliable (compared to DCT/PDK), Manual is a lifestyle not a choice and overall I think BMW, Porsche, Subaru/Toyota, and Honda have really done their best to keep a lot of these options available to us and for that I'm thankful....but in a few years we won't get to argue as much about this stuff...we will all be driving our dishwashers to and from work...in the end can I quote Mr. Hankey and just say awww the heck with it, you're all focusing on what's so wrong about BMW's choices that you've forgotten what's so right about it...lets just bake cookies!

Thanks for reading my flight of ideas....

I think the only one left is the Carrera 4 GTS . Used to have more choices …R8, Gallardo, 911 Turbo
And the Carrera T manual. A stunning car.

It is definitely stunning, but it’s RWD. Was just listing AWD manuals.

Limited production, lighter, more "pure".

What sense is the M4 CSL when you can achieve the same, for significantly less? It's the magic VIN number
