Re: the $12k increase to get the Java, considering my '23 has almost 19k mi on it already. So, I maybe get $60k for it & the new Java equipped the same would be about $73k. There's the $12k increase. The discussion about used cars is about the performance value of the G87. Like I said at $65-70, great. At $80+, one can get a better performing vehicle 1-2 years old, which is basically still new.

In order to get a decent 718 or 911, you'll have to go used if trying to compare to the G87.
Well I would consider you an outlier; turning over cars at the rate of one every 9 months on average or 18 months if you assume you own two at a time.

If you want to calculate it that way to get the Java Green you must also take into account the added value of resetting back to 0 for maintenance. Yeah, it cost $12k but you've already driven 19k miles. But I digress.

You equate a used car (1 or 2 years old) to a new car. So once again, if all that matters is performance and you don't care how the car is broken in or driven, you might be correct.

A 718 is a reasonable comparison and new it's significantly more than an M2 and the same value proposition applies to a 718 4.0. If the M2 doesn't make sense at $80k; I'd argue the 718 4.0 doesn't make sense at $110k when configured.

...and a used GT3 really doesn't make sense north of $220k, but apparently they are getting it

For the average street driver, it's not going to matter. You need to live on a low traffic mountain road or raodcourse to exploit what these cars can do - sadly most never see anywhere near 9/10s and it's more or less street profiling

Z06 is the better value in the 100k range imo - 600 rwhp on a dyno and very close to GT3 numbers on a roadcourse

Never underestimate European horse power, it remains completely different to US horse power. More of the European stuff makes it to the rear tyres, plus the chassis is generally much better sorted straight out of the box....if you want horse power and handling look no further than the magnificent M3 X drive.

As always it depends on the outcome you are looking for.
I own a 991, a 981 (close to 718) and have a G87 on the way.
They are all very different cars. Front, Mid and Rear engines all drive differently.
Porsches are very clinical in every aspect of what they do. Steering, handling, body control are all excellent. In a way, they always feel like they are more competent than you as a driver.
Both Porsche I own feel far more analogue than the G87. The engine noise is real and pure, the steering feel and feedback is far more communicative. Everything feel 'precise'.
The problem can arise however whereby this makes the cars feel very serious, and grown up.

The G87 on the other hand isn't perfect, is compromised in some design factors and has a far more 'digital' character. But it has an attitude to it. If the 911 is your mature big brother, the G87 feels like your young 'troublemaker' kid brother.
It makes you laugh, and can be a bit silly. I really like how it makes you feel. It's more interested in having fun than setting lap times.
It's more mini muscle car than serious sports car.

I suppose it just depends on your personality, and the experience you're looking for and a what price. The G87 gives you 95% of the motoring experience for half the price.
