I drive in manual mode so I do not make use of the shift points, but I can confirm they are there.

How do you get to those settings

cool, Thanks. i may not use it for the G42, holding higher revs eats up the gas very quickly lol.

I just wanna update everyone to install the newest XHP v1.2 (feb 2024). I would sometimes experience lurching when downshifting from 3-2 because the revs wouldn't match up with the transmission, but v1.2 completely fixed that issue. just for that alone it is a great update.

Question about xHP and OTA updates: Does anyone know if having xHP tune installed will prevent OTA updates?

From what I’ve read, xHP will need to be reinstalled after a dealer software update. But I could not confirm, all though would assume it would be the same, if the same is true for OTA updates.

I have had no issues at all with OTAs but you will have to re-flash xHP and Bimmercode (if you have that) after. and trust me, you will want to re-flash xHP immediately after an OTA because the stock transmission in manual is so sluggish compared to the tune lol. I drove it stock for a couple of days after an OTA and man, I never realized how much of a difference the xHP tune made.

I've been playing with this for over a week. The shifts are faster and buttery smooth and not to say it wasn't already great, but it is just that much quicker.

Nice improvements on the sounds, the ignition cut really adds some great effects to the experience. Also enhancing the blips too. I keep turning the radio off, just want to listen to the sound of the exhaust.

You will not likely get as much improvement in sound from the stock exhuast & downpipe, as it muffles everything fairly well.

Disabling the standstill decoupling has been nice.

Also to note, I recommend resetting the Max RPM back to stock 6900.
Also setting max torque to 800lb, NV Motorsports found with thier tuned car, thay were having issues with launch control with too much torque on the stock trans.

Thank you for your very detailing guide for xHP mate. Could you give me your throttle downshift value and torque reduction upshift value. I'm new here so I cannot PM you. Much thx!

The settings have expanded dramatically since the writing of my original post here. I'm running extended settings here. I need to find the time to write out a complete guide to ignition cut sound maximization, but I've been busy with work.

Keep in mind, you car may differ from my slightly, so the best way to proceed is to continuously street tune for your own prefereces. I maximized sounds and downshift speeds as much as possible without lurch. Here are my current settings:

Throttle Blips (downshift strength)
2-1 - +10
3-2 - -5
4-3 - +10
5-4 - -7
*6-5 - +25
*7-6 - +30
*8-7 - +45

*Didn't do much testing in flat out testing with gears 6 above as these are felony speeds for me. Could only tune these on a flat out track day.

Torque Reduction Upshifts (fart sound volume)
2-1 - +20
3-2 - +25
4-3 - +25
5-4 - +25
*6-5 - +27
*7-6 - +30
*8-7 - +35

*Gears 6+ were configured to reduce clutch wear. Too much will give balloon sound. Too little will be soft on cut sounds.

Ignition-Cut Shifting (threshold to activate fart sounds)

Standard
2750 RPM
300 Nm

Fast
2750 RPM
250 Nm

*Ignition cut works best under load and higher RPMs. I was just fucking around here, and there is a bit of upshift roughness when not using wide open throttle on lower RPM ranges.

Torque Punch (punchiness of shifts)
2-1 - +25
3-2 - +25
4-3 - +25
5-4 - +25
6-5 - +25
7-6 - +25
8-7 - +25

*I find that dialing in these settings can hasten the upshifts and increase volume as a secondary characteristic. Be careful with these settings as early brute force testing of values had me observing audible clutch slip in the sound of squeaks. I've reduced these to what I think is the best feel with mechanical sympathy for the ZF8HP50 multi-clutch pack system.

If you want to tease out the maximum ignition cut sound you're best bet is to still shift around 4-5k RPM under wide open throttle. You need actual torque to reduce for it to make the sound.

Flashing the tcu totally voids the drivetrain and engine warranty correct? I know it's not flashing the DME so you don't have to be unlocked in order to flash the TCU but from what I've read it still detectable by BMW.

I mean I did it inside my warranty period (I'm still in it) and got a faulty battery replaced without issue. I don't think it's as severe as the "beware of tuning” automation that flags your car based on increased boost.

Outside of seeing that your ECU reset several times, there's no way to detect the xHP flash with it removed. I believe it was stated on the xHP website or documentation somewhere.
