This is further proof that BMW is dropping the manual. The G series manual is already a carryover from the F. The market is way too small to develop a new/improved transmission, they'd never make their development cost back.

Nice! This will make it heavier than the M4 and with less power it’s a winning combination especially for what’s supposed to be a smaller car.

It's a shame that they won't do a manual...it's not like they actually make the gearbox. The development costs could be spread across platforms given the broad use of the same motor.
M2 Xdrive would be a heavy track car...but it'll be a great dd. |

dunno about that... there will now likely be an ICE (presumably S58 powered) G84 M3. i read that a manual next gen M3 is a possibility in that ICE car, which i am hoping is true

last I checked xdrive in 2 series only adds 121lb, which would put the M2awd sub 4k still. around 3900-3950

But will it have optional CCBs? Will San Luis bring the full individual program online in time for end of life cycle?
I hope so because I need Sepang Bronze or an Orinoco xdrive w/ CCBs in my life! |

If there was ever going to be a manual AWD it would have been a GTR back then. It just doesn’t work for higher powered AWD with manual. Manual is slower in every aspect anyway😄 I just wish they would have kept the DCT and not gone ZF but oh well

I believe I'm in the minority, but I wish the upcoming M2 CS was offered with M xDrive.

Ugh. Really bmw. Start production in 2026?
1 - makes me know I could never have waited for one, that’s basically 2 years after this LCI release and I already waited 2 years for these color options to be available. 2 - how much right? My 2025 individual, with options non-awd is already stickering just south of $80k. Same build with enhancements and 2 annual price increases, $90-95k is my guess. 3 - what portion of the aftermarket parts fit the awd from the current M2 will matter a ton on an upgrade choice. I mean with the bmw added cost tax to everything there’s another $20k cost to any quality good build. Ppf/ceramic the car and you are likely well above that. I’m not sure an awd model will excite me enough to want to do that all over, this one is starting out as my long term keeper so. I’m thinking used for used might be possible down the road, but who knows. Plus, by then they’ll be something else to wait for…this is the business model to keep us buying. Long way of saying, enjoy your cars, there will always be something better “coming soon”. |

They have no reason to do that unfortunately there’s no business case for it
