You then deflect to the tired stereotype that all items made in China are junk and a part manufactured in the US is somehow superior. Can you actually provide evidence they are manufactured in the US because everything I've found says they're designed & made in Belgium & some in Canada. They did open a US distribution center in Alabama in 2023 according to their website. But nothing says they're made in the "2005 – An Engineering facility that controls product Research and Development, Manufacturing and Quality Assurance was established in Canada. All TecMate products are designed in Canada and global manufacturing is controlled from Canada." This whole argument is ironic coming from someone who purchased a German car made in Mexico. That German car made in Mexico is comprised of quite a few parts made in China. As I said previously, I have 3 CTEK chargers that have been used continuously for 9, 6, & 3 years respectively. I've not had a single issue with any of them. I also purchased one for my MIL several years ago that is working flawlessly. It's fine to say "I prefer x for abc reason" but you've provided zero supporting evidence to label an entire line of chargers "junk" nor that your preferred brand is any better. 🍻

'Made in ____' is, for the most part, an inane argument anyway because:
1. It's almost always a political or societal statement, not a QC statement. 2. It's sometimes a racial statement in addition to 1. above, not a QC statement. 3. It's sometimes a nationalist statement in addition to 1. above, not a QC statement. I mean, if you're gonna say 'Made-in-____ products are crap' or somesuch, try to be real about why you feel that way. Because only sometimes is the issue related to quality ahead of the other reasons (among others I didn't mention) above -- and this same point applies to anything manufactured, whether en masse, by hand, or any combination between. (Disclosure: I swear by CTEK chargers, which surpassed the former trickle-charger benchmark, Battery Tender, a good 15-20 years ago.)

Please don’t answer that, because the only people who speak like this are toddlers between 2 and 4 years old. Guy comes here for advice on his battery info, is told by some stranger he’s not smart for using a CTEK. You came here to make this thread about how smart you are. It’s honestly one of the saddest things to see adult babies act this way on the internet. Big man say big smart thing to feel big strong smart! Given my username I am not even gonna touch the made in china comment - I can just tell your level of ignorance and incompetence given how many components are made there for all the stuff you use every day. But keep going on about how smart and right you are. You’re just another sad lonely guy who wants to feel remotely in control of something by spewing hate and nonsense on the internet. You’re giving this lightweight too much attention.

Again, if you actually owned both, you would understand Optimate is simply a better quality charger - PERIOD. Everything else is arm waving QC associated with Chinese products is better than it was in some cases, true, but I still prefer to buy American where a superior product is available. Again, you're turning this into a personal vendetta instead of a product comparison and I never made it personal until the usual azzholes like you did...have a nice day and hug your CTEK pos charger |

Count the number of appreciations in your posts Beavis.
Let me help you out. Start with 1, which isn’t included, and count backwards. LOL As I posted earlier, when you argue with stupid people they’ll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience. You win again Beavis. Last edited by Carefree; 01-13-2025 at 03:26 PM.. |

There is also nothing that I could find that says Optimate chargers are made in the US. If you can point to anything that attests to that, please do. As I cited from their parent company website, they have a distribution center in Alabama as of 2023. They also have a headquarters in Canada that "controls global manufacturing". That doesn't say they are manufactured in Canada only that their manufacturing arm is controlled from Canada. But again, if you have any actual evidence to the contrary, post it up. If not, you're just spouting an opinion, and an uneducated one at that 🍻 |

But he sure got some opinions, along with a volley of ad hominem insults typically utilized by anonymous internet users who quickly shed their veneer of civility in these fora.
