No I totally get it, when your body is used to a certain temperature any significant change is going to cause your body to freak out a little

Hard not to be envious of that kind of weather. San Antonio typically enjoys those types of temps but we get arctic blasts occasionally. They are rare but I still bitch about it the whole time...ha ha

Unrelated but this reminded me of how pissed I was my first winter in Iraq. I arrived in summer and it was 118 degrees then it got down to 19 degrees in the winter. I was pissed. No place that hot should get that cold.

Anyway, got another 30 miles on the car today. Taking it easy because I haven't gotten my ppf yet.

Ah yes the all inclusive trips to Iraq
Where were you deployed?
I had a lovely time retaking Fallujah in 04 and then a game of hide and seek in Ramadi in 06

I see you got the all inclusive packages both times. Were you a Marine under Natonski in 04? Met him in 2009 or so. He is a character. Seemed very ops focused and had a great deal of concern for his Marines from my brief observation/interactions. God bless you. Had a friend who was a Navy corpsman in Fallujah....sounded more horrific than one can imagine.

I was based out of Taji but traveled around to various other loactions. Luckily, no cool guy stuff for me and no "extra" ribbons/medals. Just a POG with a little outside the wire activity.

Glad you got home safe.

Yes, I was under his command. He took over 1st Division right around when I was getting out of School of Infantry.
Never met him personally but I always heard good things about him from my CO. I was with 3/1 out of Pendleton(Camp Horno)
Yes, fallujah was a nightmare, especially for my first deployment.
I had a lot of good friends who were POGs
I wasn’t a brain-dead grunt who hated everyone who wasn’t infantry

Glad you made it out safe too brother

And because I love to paint a target on my own back, I never understand the “engagement” argument either. I love flicking through the gears via the paddles! Up, down, double taps into a corner like an F1 car, heaps of fun and engaging.
Then you DO understand. If you think paddles are engaging, then imagine that AND being able to more precisely control your throttle inputs. It's the exact same thing, the joy of control and finesse, it's just a matter of degree. MT is the same, just more so.

pick up an extra set of OEM wheels (which kind, up to you) and throw some all seasons on them for the winter. i want to say i paid $1200 shipped for 824m takeoffs with 80% PS4S tires. theres a ton of wheel and tire setups for good deals (and admittedly some bad deals) bouncing around in the classified sections of these forums. now, i run the cast (very, very heavy) stock wheels as winters with sottozeros and the 824ms with summers for the other three seasons.

i picked my car up nov 30 2023 in the snow. it had 46 miles when i put the winters on. the drive home and to the tire shop was sketchy to say the least.
