LOL, they got that info from here. Bimmerpost resident insider here instantly shot it down as a human error. Spend a little more time in G87 section, besides this one thread and you will know 10x more than those rags.

This is very likely BMW focusing on the homologation of only one engine for next years.
I am personally aware that they've been doing some small changes to some peripherals, perhaps it was cheaper for BMW to focus on the T variant and apply to all.

I don't understand that mentality. What would you lose if the car is made available in both RWD and xDrive? Nobody will force you to buy the xDrive one. But some people like me live in areas with snow on the ground six months of the year and AWD would make the car much more liveable. I currently own an M240i and would upgrade to an M2 in a heart beat if it was available with xDrive. Life is too short to drive a beater in winter months.
Life is too short to not drive RWD in winter.

You don’t need AWD to get through snow. And now with all of the tech on board to assist with wheel slip it’s even easier. What do you think our parents and grandparents did before FWD and AWD?
That is so perfectly put - they had "real" road skills back then. Yes, the cars used to have less than 200 horses but they were "raw" and ready

They had to use their "APPtitude" to negotiate road hazards, not APPs like most new cars and even some car operators (because I refuse to call these skill-free folks, drivers)

Yeah fair play. Don't feel bad though some people can't dance, some people can't drive

I did specicfally talk about street performance. If rwd was better the Turbo s would be rwd. The GT cars are track cars, hence the GT badge and hence the rwd. As I said point to point street performance 4wd is clearly unmatched.

Doubtful. There's a real risk that the vehicle becomes undrivable. More likely AWD ZF.

Turbo 4 cylinders were making over 1,000 hp back in the 1970's-80's.

Granted they were race engines.

The vast majority of M owners have no idea on how to drive their cars either. They just have a lot of money to throw at a car and car mods so they have something to be smug about at Cars-n-Coffee

Then just buy and drive an M2 all year. I’ve driven rear wheel vehicles year round my whole life and never gotten stuck. I’ve used chains when needed or just adjusted my throttle application. You don’t need AWD to get through snow. And now with all of the tech on board to assist with wheel slip it’s even easier. What do you think our parents and grandparents did before FWD and AWD?
They drove fwd and 4wd vehicles because they've been around for almost 100 years.

You can throw me into that group except for the money part. I don't have any…if I did though…I would not say no to a 4S.

My experience has been the Porsche Crew is far more likely to track their cars, far more likely to know how to drive appropriately and far LESS likely to drive like a sack of assholes on the street.

I think there are reasons for this. That's not to say there aren't great guys in the local BMW chapter, there are! But there's also some major twat waffles.

M2 loses all its fun without RWD though
Imagine a world, where BMW was able to create an xDrive system, that a touch of a button, it could become rwd only if you so desired…

And honestly, for me…I just want a nice car to drive to work and home…probably run a few quick errands. I am not trying trying to win the Indianapolis 500. I want to be able to do these things in a nice car that makes me happy. I don't spend my money on anything else. Haven't gone on a vacation in years, I don't spend on designer clothes, don't go out to fancy restaurants.

Cars are my only vice and its not like I have owned a lot of them so this next one…I will splurge and get one that puts a smile on my face whether its 2WD or 4WD.
