The first two - three pages is JustinHemi convincing everyone that he doesn’t care about the bump in power, but it’s pretty obvious how disappointed he is.

Guys, I mean the car dynos at 475 (give or take) plus a few bolt ons and boom. Just tune it to get where you want. My M2 will be here in September, with the (452)hp. Honestly, a 25hp bump won’t be felt, and if you’re going to tune it then no worries. I’ll do FBO and tune forsure. I don’t think it’s a deal breaker. I also don’t think anyone is going to say “Holy shit, a power bump!” |

That would be a 22HP bump, just like the G87

It's mainly marketing, but that's enough to affect resale. The buyers of M cars are very concerned about things like figures and lap times.

I just don’t think 25hp is a seller, nor 1 additional color. I don’t know of many people who keep their M cars stock but I’m 26 and all my friends with Ms are young and dumb so that is that. |

My wife is wondering what model year they install the vibrator in the front passenger seat? Shouldn't be a drivers seat option due to the distractions it would cause.

Since this is likely just a "retune," it's just a little less torque falloff near the redline. So it's only available at 6500+ RPM. To tap this power, you need to be going to near-redline AND spending some time there. In other words, 3rd gear, 100MPH+. A rare scenario on the street, I hope! For drag races and "power" tracks, this tune would be welcome. However, the kind of owner who does those is probably already applying mods and tunes, so this likely won't matter to them either. We know it's going to be the same exact tune as the current base M3/4 which have 473hp. We don't need to speculate; we have the specs.
MY23/24 G87 Max. output 453hp at 6,250 RPM Max. torque 406ft-lbs at 2,650 – 5,870 RPM Base G80/2 Max. output 473hp at 6,250 RPM Max. torque 406ft-lbs at 2,650 – 6,130 RPM |

It's gotta be some weird combination of segmentation, loss-leading, hype generation, and fealty to the demands of ancient Lovecraftian gods. Probably not in that order. |
