Evolution Racewerks midpipes and crossover tube with MP exhaust

Just finished installing the Evolution Racewerks crossover tube and midpipes with the MPerformance exhaust. Initial impressions - the parts are very well made, fit very nicely with no clearance issues. With a lift, the install was surprisingly simple.

My MPerformance exhaust was port installed so the exhaust was already cut. With the ER midpipes, I had a ~17mm gap between the ER midpipes and the MP exhaust. The OEM couplers worked great with no leaks that I could hear.

I know the MP muffler is already a bit louder than the stock muffler but with the midpipes, it’s loud. Cold start in M1 mode is very loud (like I wouldn’t want to drive through my neighborhood early in the morning loud). I don’t have a valve controller so I can’t compare fully closed with fully open, but a few WOT pulls results in an extremely loud exhaust note (that sounds fantastic). Not sure I need a controller now, as cruising and semi spirited driving sounds fantastic. Not sure I’d want it to be crazy loud all the time. I need to try a WOT pull under a bridge.

No sound clips yet as I ran out of time today. Too many other things I need to do, but I’ll get some audio soon. I do plan to have the exhaust cerakoted also.

i have been eyeing the ER mid pipe also. More so on the price and the quality of the product. from the one video i saw it appears it’s a lot louder than other options on the market. ER looks to be the only mid that does not have a x pipe but runs a H.

the initial plan was to run just a mid and stock exhaust. wish i could hear it in person

Nice 71dsp - looks great - have my ER midpipes n crossover pipe waiting for my car. Can you say how much clearance you have between the pipes and the stock chassis brace? 0.25”? 0.5” More? Looks close in the pic. Was it difficult adjusting the pipes so they wouldn’t contract the brace?
Also, have any torque specs for the downpipe hardware and clamp hardware?
Thanks!

I’ll try and get a video as soon as I can. With the valve closed or cruising it’s hardly louder than stock. When the valve opens - that’s when you hear the difference.

The welds and material quality is great. I’m very pleased with it. I certainly wouldn’t have an issue recommending it.

Thanks!

Torque on the connections from the downpipes to the crossover tube and exhaust (8mm nuts) is 24 Nm.

Torque on the exhaust hanger bolt and nut (on either side of the transmission) is 19 Nm.

The OEM torque on the exhaust clamps is listed as 38 Nm. That felt way too high when tightening so I stopped at 28Nm.

Clearance between the OEM brace and the exhaust is VERY close. I’d say like ~3mm. I was worried it might make noise, but nothing during the test drive. Clearance around the tubing is all very good. Closest area is the OEM brace. Everywhere else has much more clearance. I didn’t adjust the exhaust. I left everything loose, lined it up, then tightened everything up. Worked out great.

3mm - wow that’s close.

Thanks.

Man, I think it may be closer. I just measured. One credit card between the brace and the tubing drags a bit. Two cards definitely does not fit.

I may space the brace down just a bit with washers or some thing. Thought about scanning it and getting something cut by SCS.

Looks great! I have ER mid pipe but the stock muffler (non-mp), would love to hear a clip as I am unsure if the MP exhaust changes the tone.

But yeah, in sports plus it sounds pretty nuts. Sometimes I go into M1 mode and let it hit the rev limiter just to hear the explosion

I’ll try and get a sound clip this weekend.

I have the same setup with a stock muffler and the J Pipe is ceramic coated. Here's the install video, granted I didn't have the J pipe yet, it doesn't really sound that much different, if at all with the J pipe, however I do feel like the boost is there a bit longer. There is a sound clip at the end.

Ok here are a couple of not so great videos pulling into the garage. Will try to get something better. This is with the MP exhaust, ER crossover pipe, and ER mid-pipes in engine sport+ mode (part of my M1 presets) without any valve controllers.

It sounds better in person than it does in these videos.

Engine is right at operating temp in this one.

Engine is a bit cooler here. Not fully warmed up, but far from cold.
