PPF / Ceramic
Wondering if anyone can offer advice on PPF/Ceramic. This will be the first car I've bought, as opposed to leasing, and I'm willing to invest a little extra to keep it looking great if it's staying with me longer term. Most concerned about the gloss black trim on these terrible north east roads. Does anyone have a suggestion on which parts of the car I should get done in which material? Thanks!

You've said this in another thread and I wouldn't expect most people have the tools to do it properly. Aren't you supposed to have paint correction done prior to applying the coating?

I would recommend this exactly as well, if not going the full PPF route which is pretty expensive. If I could recommend a brand for ceramic coating, CarPro UK 3.0 is showing no signs of degrading after 2+ years on my current (soon to be previous) vehicle. EDIT: yes, use ceramic coating ONLY AFTER the PPF is installed. There is also PPF specific coatings that can be used in combination with regular coatings for just the painted surfaces |

If you're only getting the front PPF'ed (for instance), are they going to do paint correction on the whole car? I would love to not pay a pro to have ceramic applied but I live in an apartment complex and don't have an indoor spot to do it.

I'm on the fence about this exactly. Have an appointment to drop the car off next Monday, and don't know if I just want to do front PPF, or get the whole thing ceramic coated as well :|

I'd say go for PPF on the full front + rockers and then have the car ceramic coated. They should be doing paint correction on the entire car prior to any of this.
I don't regret it one bit ![]()

Unfortunately those of us with Rhombicle will have the piano black on the dash thanks to the new lighting feature. At least that isn't going to be touched and scratched as often because it is up high.

There are pictures of 2 2023 models in the US that have a gloss black trim piece on the dash with the Rhombicle pieces around the gear selector and charging cubby. It is different than the trim piece in the video you're talking about

What status code are you at at the moment now? I think since I have one of the early 2023s, I might not have the gloss black parts.
As someone else posted, the lack of communication and rationale should be so much better from a company such as BMW. I'm hoping you get what you want! |
