I think they are just trying to take up all the space with fancy looking fluff and not really spending a lot of time making it legible. Speed and shift light on the HUD, digital RO for the important stuff on the cluster... the analog-ish needles and what not just embellishment. I dont think I have ever even looked at them to notice if I can read them or not. They really should let users decide how to make it all look though. I mean why not. They could have a dash designer phone app or something, I bet people would dig that.

BTW, has anyone tried setting your display to ‘minimal’ (I think that’s the term in the menu settings)? Once set you simply press the top side button on the turn stalk once to see the full display for a few seconds, or continue pressing the button to cycle through the various info displays as normal.
So far I’m really liking it, especially when combined with the ‘M Performance to 200 MPH’ option from BimmerCode. |

As PNTDG42 mentioned, the shift tach and speed are in the HUD, so I don't even find myself looking down there when I am driving anyways. What about the tach? Na, you can hear the RPMs of the engine quite well. Just my opinion but I like them after coming from completely analog displays in my other vehicles. |
