anyone switching to an M3?

Well, these wait times seem absurd at midwestern dealers.

So much so that I can probably order an M3 and take delivery by September or so, while an M2 order is looking like a March-April 2024 delivery.

Just curious if anyone else has jumped ship and/or is considering it.

Probably going to catch shit for saying this, but I still prefer the styling of the M2 over the M3/M4. There's also a $10,000+ price difference that I can't easily justify. I've been waiting since June of 2022 for my M2 allocation, bought an M240i in the meantime. No regrets.

I tossed the M4 idea around but have moved from 11 in January to 4 on my dealer’s wait list just last week, so the long answer is no. Along with Ravenseal, I’m loving the hell out of my 240i.

M3's still have a decent wait on them too. If you're looking to get an M car relatively fast...it's the M4 you should be looking at.

3 different dealers near me had allocations end of last week for an M3. I was really tempted.

You're right, Texas has a few open slots. The midwest, not so much.

I LOVE the m3 but I’m empty nesting. Guess I could use the extra doors for Simple Cub

Why is the M4 the one to look at? I actually prefer the M4 as I like coupes.

Big time. I’d guess 5 to 1.

I took my BSM G87 to my detailer for paint correction and ceramic coating the day I got the car. When I picked it up 3 days later he said it was the best paint he's seen recently. Hardly any imperfections, which are very common in new cars. Porsches, BMWs, Benzes, anything really. This was the best he's seen. I explained that the car came out of the most high tech production facility BMW ever made, just happens to be located in Mexico.
Score 1 for BM(exico)W.

What would be the wait time for one of these?

My local dealer said the M3 is a 3-4 month wait on an allocation while the M4 is pretty much no wait.

Really depends on the store. My store has two in line..so roughly 2-4 months for an allocation and then 3 months after that. But there are stores with open allocations.

Great to hear. Maybe claying the car won’t be necessary.

My dealership has an m4 in the exact individual color I want (not a popular one either) and I have zero interest, if I wanted 2 doors I'd get an m2, looks better and drives better, just missing individual color.
The m3 looks way better than the m4, has 4 doors, and I think has a better weight distribution (at least looks like it does, which effects why the m4 looks so funny). The new m4 isn't even a consideration for me, unless it were 20k cheaper than an m2.

If the demand for the M3 is still that high, why isn't BMW matching the demand? Is this how it's always been for M cars or is there still "supply chain issues"?

Switching *from a 2023 M3C...it's an amazing car but to be candid, it feels like a cheat code. I personally think manual is more engaging and want to be back in a coupe. It helps that values have held up on the xdrive G8x's.

I'll give BMW this - M3 definitely feels like a luxury car and worth the price tag. It gets a ton of attention and imo on performance vs. cost, it is top of class.
