Crash Warning After Launching
Been having an annoying problem lately where I use launch control and the car thinks I got into an accident. Warning on the dash says something like ‘Damage to Vehicle Detected’ and offers to call roadside assistance. The first time it happened I took its advice and called, they said the car said I was in a minor accident but couldn’t offer any more detail. They said they couldn’t reset it from their end either. A few minutes later I plugged in my cable and scanned for codes — nothing stored, even while the warning light is still on. Eventually it goes away on its own.
I googled and found a couple M5 guys that have this happen. I also saw in the Kies video where he’s chasing 9’s at the strip he gets the same warning in the middle of a run. He laughs it off as a badge of honor, but I’m feeling a little more annoyed than cute at this point. Anybody else have this happen or know a way to disable it? I know in bm3 there’s an option to ignore codes, but if there’s no code stored… what the heck can a boy do? Car is modified and launches harder than a stock car fwiw

As far as codes go, basic scanners to clear codes clear engine codes and nothing else. If you’re referring to other systems there are ways to reset those systems through the scanner. WCS, I would do a reflash which should knock out the issue. |

just ignore it it's launching so hard it thinks it might have crashed

I had the same thing happen the first time I launched the car. Scared the shit out of me. Thought something broke. I pushed the sos button and it cleared itself before I spoke to anyone. Hasn't happened since.
