I eventually came to the conclusion that it's wind noise being produced by the M mirror design. I barely notice it now as I've gotten used to it.

Of course I could be wrong but I found some other posts from people, with other models that have M mirrors, who described the same sound.

My x340 makes wind noise off the Mirrors as well it’s fairly annoying but it’s comes with the Territory, I guess

Try checking your side view mirror cap. Mine came installed incorrectly from the factory created a slight gap thus causing wind whistles going over 30mph. I gave it a quick push heard a click and seated the cap properly, the wind noise was gone.

99.99% sure the cap wasn’t clamped in properly. Try comparing to the other side that didn’t make the wind noise you might notice a bigger gap on the noisy side. Give it a good push till it clicks. My 240 was the same but the wind noise was gone after I fixed the mirror cap.

Did you ever get this resolved? I’ve just begun to notice the same sound. I generally play music at a louder level, it went for a long road trip and had the volume set lower for the wife, tilted the roof and was hit with the annoying sound.

It’s way beyond the normal wind noise one would hear with the roof tilted.

Mirror caps are fine.
