The 2020 GT4 was my dream car for a while. It hurts me that they're not producing it anymore.

I bought the M2 because it's relatively cheap. It's in a class of its own for cost/performance.
This price of the GTS in Australia is ridiculously expensive compared to the that of M2.
The price of M2 with carbon roof and most options added without the bucket seat can be bought around USD70k Driveaway. But the cayman gts is easily over USD140k after adding some options. We know the safety tech in the Cayman is outdated so I can't convince myself why I have to pay such big $$ for the cayman.

I have to admit I've been checking out the Cayman GT4 as a potential next car when I give the M2 to my son in a few years...

I had a 2016 GT4 and it is really a different car. It had a very nice suspension and steering and it did wrap around you. The gearing was very long and the engine was the weak point. Under 5000 rpm there was no life. For a track car that you can wind out, it is definitely well suited for that. On back roads and public roads the gearing and lack of torque with a very narrow power band up top made it not enjoyable for me. It sounded and looked great but needed a better engine. Hence, the GT4RS. But, I question the value of a Porsche’s as their prices are rising ever higher and that is for base models to the GT cars.

Why can’t BMW make a mid-engine car?
