It's the ones I got from Autodoc and they are now fitted to the car , mine came with the connector adaptors in the box , now quiet as a mouse, good luck.

BMW Germany has a TSB saying that when a M240i G42 is noisy in the rear on bad roads to replace the shock absorbers, and if that doesn't help to open a TSARA case. This was formerly known as a PuMA case.
A lot of people found out replacing the shock absorbers does not fix the issue. BMW then tells the dealer to put in a different shock absorber mount from a 3 series: 33 50 6 889 267 This seems to fix the noise, a lot of people in a German forum wrote that this fixed the noise completely. My concern with attempting this potential resolution is that Tegs200 eliminated the sound by installing Bilstein replacement shocks, which photos do not show including a replacement for this mount... so if the problem was the mount, I would not expect the shock replacement to have resolved the noise in his car. Unless the issue was due to a poor interface of the combination of original shock and mount together. |

Day 4 of the Bilstein EVO SEs. Drove this morning in 15 degree weather. They are silent! I memorized all the thump-able areas of my roads. Feels like I’m driving a different car, in many different ways, but in particular for the lack of thump.
In terms of driving dynamic, the difference is insane. Firmness is about 70% between stock comfort and sport, closer to sport. Although my suspension is still settling so they may soften up a minor amount. That’s all worth it when the curvy roads come into play. Steering is straight as an arrow and super direct. There is one bump that if I take at speed, a wheel or 2 lifts off the ground. That is no longer the case. TLDR: swapping to the EVO SEs resolved my thump. More expensive than just replacing the shocks, but driving dynamics are greatly improved. Highly recommend if you ever feel the stock suspension is too floaty and/or want to slightly reduce the wheel gap. |

Not sure why some are trying to find other things that might cause it when its as plain as day ........ just change the rear Monroe rubbish shocks and job done .

Here is one more very typical story. Got a brand new 2024 M240i back in September and the thump has been there since day one. Took it to a dealer few weeks back and they changed rear shocks along with other parts but the noise is still there. And after the BMW NA told that the noise is normal.
Anyway when looking Bilstein shock or coilover options they all seems to be for Xdrive versions (3 series only or both), and mine is RWD. Who has done the swap, do you have Xdrive or RWD? Since do not find RWD aftermarket shock options thinking of giving a shot for 3 series top mounts mentioned above (33 50 6 889 267). Based on dealer paper work from shock replacement, they put new top mounts in (33 50 6 889 812). Description of the part is "support bearing" so maybe it has some moving parts which could cause the noise. Or perhaps the mount stiffness is different making a change in the dynamics of the shock system causing shock noise going away or switching to some other driving condition where cannot be heard anymore. Not sure if the OE shock (37106894637) is the same no matter if it's an xDrive or not, part catalogs available here only show it is used on the 2er G42 and Z4 G29.
The person that was mentioned in the German forum said his dealer told him they are supposed to be minimally softer. |

Fact: If Bilstein shocks 'solve' the problem it is purely a secondary effect from improved passive damping more than a primary one. The effect confirms the root of the problem is high frequency, low energy transfer that is overwhelming a 'system' on the rear center/right. This energy is less to do with the shocks and more to do with bushings, springs, and mounts, yet I remain skeptical that the 3 series mount is the 'fix' any more than a Bilstein shock.
1. By virtue of the fact that some cars do not have this sound, and some do, we can infer that this in fact, not an intended sound. 2. That all have reported hearing this noise exclusively from the rear right, we can infer that it is most likely not the result of the same suspension components that exist on other corners of the car, as those remain silent. 3. As a result of both 1 and 2, we can infer that the root cause must be the result of circumstances or set of circumstances influencing components unique to the center/right side of the rear end of the car to interact. Questions for the community: 1. Does anyone notice a change to the intensity/occurrence of the 'softball in a wood box' noise if DSC is disabled? 2. Is there anyone with an aftermarket exhaust that is not valved having this problem? 3. Is anyone over 5k miles reporting this issue? In summation, there is nothing I find more irksome in this world than fixing products post release, but here we are. The noise is clearly not intended yet also, not a critical failure either. BMW's attitude that this is a 'characteristic' can mean one of two things. They know what the problem is, prefer not to say, and determined there is not a reasonable cost basis to fix it. More likely, BMW does not want to spend compensatory dollars for technicians to chase sounds that are a low-risk problem, meaning a problem not likely to cause catastrophic failures while under warranty. While I respect the dedication to Bilstein, I would ask that forum members exercise caution from aggressively touting the purchase of aftermarket shocks as a solution to a newly manufactured car. Doing so sets a precedent that reduces pressure on BMW to prioritize resolution of the problem. |

I totally respect your view but this is my second G42 ......our first one had the bobbling and had 4k miles on the clock and our second one had exactly the same but slightly louder due to the eibach springs and has only 2k miles , i came across this thread and read about the shocks being the cause , i then took the decision to buy a set of oem Bilstein Shocks and take a chance which has 100% paid off and im delighted and why I have posted a fix as people have been looking for 2 years for one , one other poster has also said he replaced his shocks with Bilstein and no more noise , it's all well and good saying to wait for BMW but they are not going to change the manufacturer of the shocks no matter how many complain , the only people still having the problem are still using the original and thats the bottom line.

I get that but for me it was all I heard everytime I went out in it and spoiled the experience, i agree it's not something we should be considering after spending 50k on a car but it was that or sell for me if it didn't work.

From that link you are replying to it is digital only, so sharing wouldn’t be possible since it would require sharing the login credentials and if too many people are logging in at the same time, the account will get shut down. However the link you provided does appear to be printable according the description. I’m new to cars and DIY, but if your link is legitimate and it is an authentic BMW service manual for 99$, I will buy it, very likely before I take delivery of my 2025 m240.

Looking at the service manual, I believe it indicates 71 Nm. If you can confirm if you are referring to front or rear shocks I can try to confirm that.
