Aftermarket midpipe utilizing factory brace?
Does anyone know if there is a non-resonated midpipe available that uses the stock brace? I don't like the "up and over" or should I say "down and under" style of brace that I have seen in some pictures posted. They seem to often be thinner than stock and on top of that, the bent shape is taking away a ton of rigidity that the straight-across stock brace has. I'd rather not compromise the chassis rigidity if I can avoid it.
The brace pictured, for instance, is a total joke. |

I can't speak to other braces, but the Active Autowerks brace was identical thickness and material to the factory brace. The bend was not radical and I think you are not loosing much rigidity with the AA. It definitely costs more than other brands. I think you can buy their brace a la carte.

The single midpipe is larger than stock and will require a brace.
the dual midpipe should fit with the stock brace I have never had any issues with any of the midpipe/brace we offer, not sure its worth the hassle to get a different brace

You can space your factory brace down the exact amount you need by using washers.

About 4 thick washers is what we used while our braces were being manufactured. The trick is to make sure you push the midpipe as high up as possible then tighten it all up. It will sag a bit from where you originally set it.

There's only one picture, but:
Evolution Racewerks Midpipe Is it me or does it look like it's a different length than other mid pipes or has different hookup points? (I'm not a midpipe expert.) |

Not the best angle but I have plenty of clearance between my ER mid-pipe and factory brace.

Whichever one is thicker, has less rise/dip, and/or has less material cut out of the middle of it, is going to be the stiffer one.
I'm sure you could drive around with no brace and never notice. On the other hand, BMW put a very stiff brace there for a reason. |
