After further research I found out the wheel is keyed. It is splined, but it is also keyed on the G87. So it is impossible to turn the wheel a few degrees on the splines. Maybe you could do this in older cars, but not in this one.

Hmmm. Thanks for the info. My 24 740 must still have splines as they were able to adjust the steering wheel to dead center for me. Not an M car so I can see how steering mechanics would be different. |

Were you able to fix it? I also have it lowered, on HR springs. Had 2 alignments from a reputable shop and it still pulls slightly to the right on the highway if I let go of the wheel.

It is in BMWs warranty
2000 miles Even with this info, my closest dealer REFUSED. Even stated, "I don't see a crooked steering being a defect." Wanted nearly $300 for an alignment

First dealer I took mine to also refused, and then I was past the 2k mi. Finally had it done and wheel straightened. I waited too long as at 18k mi there is a 3/32 difference in tread wear between my front tires.

So I also note that my steering wheel is about 5 to 10 degrees off to the left. You would think that since BMW decided to put a TDC stripe on the wheel, they would make damn sure the wheel was straight. I will have to go play the alignment game with the dealer here....sigh....must remember not to carry a firearm that day or perhaps steal one of grandma's Xans to stay calm dealing with them....

My steering wheel is also between 5-10 degrees left of center. I’m at 500 miles. I’ll try to get it sorted during the break in service. I’ll be sure to update this thread.
