Wasn't paying much attention to actual score in NFC game. Then I noticed my phone was on silent and checked my messages. I won the first and 3rd quarter in a pool, to the tune of $440. Playing 2 games a weekend, only won one other quarter all season.

That's all that really matters now in the SB too, match those numbers!

The refs are blasted on social media after every game by emotional fans from the losing team who often run their keyboards without knowledge of the NFL Rulebook. Even when a questionable call is challenged, fans from the losing team question the result of the challenge because it goes against their team or they have a bet on the game and they are going to lose money as a result of the call.

In society, a lot of people don't like losers, but what they really can't stand is winners. When a team starts forming a legacy of any kind, out come the tinfoil hat crowd and the whiners who just love to hate on a winning team. The notion that a winning team might just be better prepared, better coached, more talented, hungrier to win, less prone to bonehead mistakes and stupid penalties, etc, doesn't enter the whiners' minds. For the past few seasons, the Chiefs have been the ones to hate. In a few years, it will be somebody else.

Go to Youtube and watch a clip of any controversial call. Then read the comments on that clip. Each and every time the comments include the same types of responses, like:

the ref called it right
the ref called it wrong
the video doesn't show the play well enough to decide
the refs are bought and paid for by team x
the NFL is corrupt

Bottom line: No matter what call is made on a close or controversial play, it's going to be challenged by about half the people. Refs have an absolutely impossible job in that respect.

When I was in sports in high school, I had a coach who taught said, "Bad calls are going to happen. Some will go our way. Some will go their way. Your job is to win by enough so a bad call against you won't change the outcome of the game". I've never forgotten that message.

Go Chiefs
Go Eagles

May the best team win.
This is a great take on the topic. I enjoyed reading it.

One other thing I will add is that the Chiefs are such a good team that if anything goes their way they make the other team pay for it; they take the opportunities and they capitalize.

I dunno, wasn't too clear, tell me how you really feel, sy!

I hear you generally, though, and to paraphase what your coach said I read an interesting and similar quip online saying "to avoid the rig, you gotta win big!"

Ofc Mahomes and Reid and all have the talent and intestinal fortitude that we haven't seen since the Pats. It's just a shame that there always seem to be some very iffy calls which tarnish that and take away from the focus being solely on their skills and execution.

I do blame Jerry for that contract.

So you're saying the NFC East will come down to the Eagles and Commies for the next few years, huh Jerry?

Patrick Mahomes

The sports shows and social media have been crucifying the Chiefs for a very long time. It's amped up to epic proportions right now. I get the hate caused by bad calls, even when many of those complains are simply fans and sports mouthpieces simply not knowing the NFL Rule Book. Fans will be fans. It's part of the deal.

But....

Here are some questions: Does anybody here think Mahomes is not one of the top quarterbacks in NFL history in spite of all the hype about favoritism and his so-called "cheating". Are there any of you would would say no to Patrick Mahomes becoming the quarterback for your favorite NFL team? Mahomes was an amazing high school athlete and college athlete, and he's led the Chiefs to seven consecutive AFC Championship Game appearances and five Super Bowl appearances since becoming their starting quarterback in 2018. He is one of five quarterbacks in NFL history to win three or more Super Bowls as a starter. Does anybody here think that's all luck or favoritism, or would you agree that he is one of the most talented quarterbacks in the history of the NFL?

Same question for Andy Reid as a head coach and his coaching staff
Same question for Travis Kelce

Let me know what you think. I'm truly interested in your response. #scratchingmyhead

The Matt Eberflus pickup was good move. He is an excellent D coordinator. Cowboys success for next 2-3 years will ride on Micah and that D.

Mahomes is instant HOF. I'd say probably in top 3 all time. When he is done, there will be constant Brady vs Mahomes for all time goat(if Patrick continues collecting Super Bowls).

Reid will go down as one of the best coaches of all time. Offensive genius.

I would like to eventually see Mahomes do it somewhere else like Brady did. But that likely won't happen. The fact Brady got cut and went to a sub .500 team, then won a SB...says it all. Icing on the cake, he won the 7th ring against Mahomes.

He might be the most talented QB to ever play in the NFL. I really believe that he sees the field and processes what is happening better than anyone else, and he elevates his talent the higher the pressure gets. Couple that with Andy Reid and good luck trying to beat them. It would be cool to see Pat go and win the superbowl with another coach and team. I will be the first to invite him to play for my Vikes.....

I caught a clip of Trey Wingo on some podcast sports show this week. He was referencing QB's success rates with leading a team on a game winning/tying drive in the playoffs or superbowl with less than a minute left in the 4th quarter. I found an article that references some stats from Trey Wingo. Check out the quote below.

Source for the below quote:

https://www.yardbarker.com/nfl/artic...16460_41657352

“Since 2001, there have been 125 drives in the NFL’s postseason where it was at least the fourth-quarter and there was under one minute to play, and the team on offense trailed by seven points or fewer at the start. Out of those 125 drives, only 40% of the time did the team on offense pull off the magic trick to get the points they needed. In other words, a touchdown or field goal to either win the game or tie the game/send it to overtime.

Tom Brady, for example, succeeded in these moments on five-of-11 occasions (46%). Drew Brees, a second legendary quarterback, converted 3-of-6 times (50%).

Where does Patrick Mahomes fit into all of this? Well, he stands as the only quarterback who’s perfect in this situation. Mahomes has found himself in this instance seven times, converting on all seven occasions."

Do you think anyone is his organization or inner-circle is informing him on what glory-holes actually means? Or is there another definition of that term I'm not aware of?

If memory serves, that should've been the time TB12 retired for good instead of playing 1? more season. Could've retained more aura to his legacy and saved his marriage.

Is he better than Dan Quinn.....or even Mike Zimmer? Doubtful. Once they have to pay Parsons they will have 3 of the highest paid players at their positions.

The only reason TB was sub .550 was because they had a TERRIBLE QB. If you remember that SB, Mahomes was running for his life on every play. Only scored 3 FGs. Bucs defense was one of the most dominant in years. But because the QB gets credit for EVERY team win, Brady gets credit for winning that SB over Mahomes. Does anyone really believe that he was better than Mahomes at that point? Bullshit media presents every NFL game as a one on one matchup between the QBs. Coaching staff, GM, O line, defense, etc, none of that matters. Look at the percentage of the salary cap that good QBs take up on every team. It's only gonna get worse.
