I had a 2023 C8 and had 0 issues. I believe majority of transmission issues were fixed by 2023.

I absolutely loved my C8. I only have 300 miles on my M2 so I can't compare yet. I assume the C8 will beat the M2 in most categories. However, I love driving the M2 as a cruiser way more (so far) even with Carbon seats.

Both amazing cars. I'll definitely get another C8 in the future. For the price, I don't think there's a better car at that level

Actually the number of transmission failures significantly reduced in 2023.

Again, I had one and never had a single issue; nor anyone I personally knew.

Keep in mind those are tarrifs for companies that move production out of the US to Mexico. There will not be any tariffs on the BMW cars.

No. The mexico tariff threat has nothing to do with companies or where things are produced. It is entirely a misguided political threat against a country over perceived immigration and other smuggling issues. Just like the bs that just happened with Columbia.

He claims 25% on Canada and Mexico.

He got the keys to the car and like a senile old fart is going to drive it into a ditch.

I may be looking at getting my deposit back. I’ve been waiting for an allocation, asked them a few weeks ago to wait and see how this plays out before getting an order number.

$75k m2 adds $18k DAMN

25% confirmed to begin tomorrow. Recent WSJ articles have mentioned that the new admin wants auto production moved to the U.S. so I'm speculating that there won't be exceptions for autos. It will be very interesting to see how this all plays out. Best of luck to all of you.

I mentioned this in another thread regarding EOP, but it's worth repeating here.

The MT will be around on the G80/2 until 06/28, just over a year before the M2 ends production. The only way I see them getting rid of the MT is if the M2 xDrive completely replaces the current model. There were also rumors that BMW could extend the EOP time of the G87.

That said, the bigger concern as of now is the threat of tariffs. Worst case, if the US follows through with high tariffs it would halt all sales to the US but continue in other markets. Anyone wanting a MT G87 would need to look at the used market. The repercussions of not being able to sell in the US market could also mean they scrap their plans for an M2 xDrive altogether and also removes any prospect of extending the production of the G87.
Let's hope it never gets to this point. ***fingers crossed***

My car just landed at port this morning.
Hope that means it avoids any tariff since it's on US soil now.

By the time the auto manufacturers can build plants, re-tool plants, etc., this administration will be out of office. So the tariffs aren't going to help if that were his goal, which it's not. Guaranteed if any of those manufacturers contributed to his re-election, they'll get an exemption. He's just sticking to those that didn't support him & 99% of the American public.

I can’t see how that would happen. The M2 audience I assume is a small, niche audience. It might have some appeal to a handful of people in the short term. Anyone that driven to get a G87 can just search out the existing new and used/preowned market.

My order just entered the quality control stage. If the info is accurate it won’t be shipped to the US before the tariffs hit if they do. Genuinely curious on what the outcome will be..

Just spoke with my sales advisor and he told me they haven't heard any word from BMW about the tariffs so doesn't believe they'll be affected.

He also said because there are BMWs being manufactured in the US that they become exempt even though there's a plant in Mexico.

Not sure how accurate all this is but I would assume there would be talks about it internally by now if it were to happen.

BMWNA likely wants its dealers to focus on the day to day, the here and now, and not focus on speculating what may happen tomorrow. Kinda doubtful they'd be reaching out to sales advisors on speculation at this point.

BMWs are manufactured in the US, so that would exempt 2 and 3 series Mexico-built cars from the tariffs? Yeah, no, probably not as per this article.

https://www.cnbc.com/2025/01/31/trum...-industry.html

S&P Mobility reports plants in Canada and Mexico produce roughly 5.3 million vehicles, with about 70% — nearly 4 million — destined for the U.S.

Mexico accounted for a majority of those vehicles, as five automakers — Ford, GM, Stellantis, Toyota Motor
and Honda — produced only an estimated 1.3 million light-duty vehicles in 2024 in Canada, largely for the U.S. market, according to a Canadian manufacturing nonprofit research group.

Some of those automakers also heavily rely on production in Mexico, but not all producers would face the same disruptions. On a percentage of sales basis, German automaker Volkswagen
is the most exposed to tariff risk in Mexico, followed by Nissan Motor
and Stellantis, S&P Global Mobility reports.

“We are working, obviously, on scenarios,” Antonio Filosa, head of Stellantis’ North American operations, said Jan. 10. “But yes, we need to await his decisions and after the decision of Mr. Trump and his administration, we will work accordingly.”

Here are the automakers that are most exposed to tariffs on vehicles imported from Mexico, based on the percentage of their U.S. sales being produced south of the border:

Volkswagen: 43%
Nissan: 27%
Stellantis: 23%
GM: 22%
Ford: 15%
Honda: 13%
Toyota: 8%
Hyundai: 8%

I'd bet a pretty penny it would have a positive effect on values. Just because we all wanted G87s and had the means to buy them now doesn't mean everyone who wants one has one.

That being said, I bet $0 this lasts long enough (if it happens) to have an effect on resale anytime soon. Even if it did happen I would never see my car as an investment because 98% of cars aren't.
