Coding

Today I tried to code this G42 coupe 2 serie. Except for the driving mode, I could not code the instrument cluster to M, M performance, Alpine etc etc.
It didn’t show these options at all.
I did coding on tire pressure and tire temp. But nothing worked, does someone have a clue why noting is working??
Is the car to new (2023) cause I do not understand at all
Used bimmercode app and OBD link cx

You might want to contact Bimmercode and ask them which codes can actually be changed on our cars. From what I have read, the code set that you see on Bimmercode isn't actually specific to our cars and even though they might have worked before, BMW is known to change them so that Bimmercode won't be able to modify them.

I already asked bimmercode, they told me a bunch of new modules are locked on the 2025.

I posted the available modules on the thread linked above.

My car is a m240i g42 2024. I've contacted bimmercode and they answered:

"Thank you for your message. The new instrument cluster that is part of the curved display (iDrive 8) can not be coded anymore unfortunately."

(((
Now there is no way to code it someway? I want the M instrumental cluster !!

Somewhere in this forum I recall someone mentioning a Japanese guy who did it.

Yes, but I think it required some kind of backdoor programming which is risky. IIRC, sounded like a pretty young guy (maybe a computer gamer dude) and he couldn't understand why anyone would have a problem messing around with the electronics on their cars.

Personally, Bimmercode is about as much risk as I am willing to undertake while the car is still under warranty. The last thing I want is to brick the car - even tho he claimed there was no risk of that. Right. I have been involved with computers (programming and using) since the mid 80s and I have had more than my fair share of bricked components over the years. Fixing a shock absorber is one thing, fixing a bricked electronic component is a whole other matter.

This is strange. I have a 2024 G42 m240 and I was able to code a few things successfully. Not sure what they were saying about the “curved display” not being able to be coded. IDrive 8 can be coded.

8.5 is more locked down than 8, seems like there's quite a lot you can do with 8.

That is why I refrain from doing software updates on my Idrive 8. I have noticed in the past that BMW takes some things away after the updates.

An upgrade usually resets some things, but they can be re-coded. I doubt there will be an 8 -> 8.5 update.

A few updates ago I lost the ability to turn off ASS in comfort mode.
