No ICE 2-series Successor after 2029?

No ICE 2-series Successor?

It's been posted for a while that 2029 will be the last year for the G42/G87. This article claims there might not be a successor... I assumed they would use the same Neue Klasse styling like the next 3 series will have, but it makes sense if they give up on ICE coupes.

Unfortunately Audi and others have given up too and just stuck with sedans and SUVs (gotta cater to the obese Americans that want to drive tanks haha).

The 2 series is really the only BMW left that has the feeling of old BMW motorsport. Everything else is as large as a 90's van. It'd be a shame to lose an ICE 2 series. I plan to keep mine until it dies considering where the auto market is going now.

I personally doubt we'll see a next gen 2 series coupe. I was surprised we even got the G42/G87, and that's really only due to platform sharing on CLAR.

I hate to say it, but the take rate on coupes, especially small ones, are extremely low. It's probably not worth the R&D for BMW to release another one next gen. Too bad.

Ya the sales of Coupes is just unfortunately really low.

Audi & Lexus just gave up. If you want a sporty coupe with a somewhat usable backseat the G42/G87 is basically the only reasonable option in my opinion (as the BRZ and GR86 is too entry level and the new Benz CLE too pricey).

I was hyped when I saw the copywrites renewed for the RSX as I own one, but it ultimately is becoming a EV SUV haha. The rumors of the Celica, MR2, Silvia, Mazda RX, etc. all sound like BS to me as well.

I thought the G42 was going to get a real LCI update for MY26 but it seems it won't. That's actually good news because then I can get a used 2025 for cheaper.

Not really. 2 series is just as heavy and numb as 3 and 4 series. Old BMW feeling is long gone I’m afraid. Now is the time to get a cayman.

Heavy sure but it's not a tank going down the road. It's still a small car.
