In any case, I didn't even consider signal interference--that would be a pain...not that I'm big into AM. I also don't what to find that the cable "rattles" in that location. |

Just a note to let everyone know that Blackvue released the B-130A, which looks pretty similar to the 130X, but is a bit cheaper.

I just recently picked up my '25 M240i and opted not to put the drive recorder in the build.
I ve also read a lot of good things on the FitCamX.Any opinions on that since it's made for BMW's? Was the Blackvue hard to install, or it needs to be professionally installed? |

The Blackvue is not difficult to install. Just an opinion, but a professional install would probably be a waste of money. |

Thanks for the info.
I ve been reading about the newest BlackVue and there seems to be a lot of complaints about their cloud service, and high subscription fees. What s your experience/opinion? |

I don't and don't intend to use Blackvue's cloud service. I can download video stored on my phone (which I can upload to any of my free clouds drives if I need) or simply pull the card. I generally don't bother w/any of that unless something has happened that I want to preserve. On occasion, I've pulled footage of some drives, e.g., r82 through Aspen CO or r1 through Big Sur--but even that I didn't care to keep (or pay to store in a cloud server). Aside, tech is sometimes (over) sold as a convenience. Really, I guess, they try to sell the idea of convenience and push what may be an inferior solution for it. They push convenience or, my fav, "options" in what is often or likely already over-optioned (those which come "standard" so you have to pay for them). But, then again, I may be overstating. |

Im thinking of getting their battery and using their cloud service for their parking mode ...well seems like they r the only player who offer robust services so I ll go for it. One more question....since their battery has to connect to the bus, will that void my factory warranty? |

I can't speak about the potential for warranty issues. I imagine if BMW finds the installation of anything other than required and/or optional BMW (or other approved) parts directly caused a problem, damage, etc., one's warranty might be in question. However, I've yet to hear of anyone with a aftermarket dashcam (now offered by many manufactures as a, you guessed it, option) runing into that situation. |

The battery will record for a couple of days. If you have a large enough Sd card, you’ll be able to record all events in that time. Note: cams can be fickle with the sd card. I use Samsung Memory 128GB Grade 1 Class 10 EVO and they have been very reliable. The BlackVue system piggybacks of the Accessory fuse so you won’t have an electric problem. |
