Problem is it's not evaporating on these cars.

As I said in a previous post mine just started doing it, and it would go away within a few hours. I took it to the dealer, and they replaced it so it must have failed the pressure test. I was worried since it would go away that they might not replace it.

I've had both lamps replaced 3x now, and they are starting to collect moisture again...

Just keep doing it as many times as you need before your warranty expires so it runs the costs up on the company. Maybe they will take notice. I know there is a bulletin internally on the problem so I'm not sure if that means it gets fixed even after warranty expires.

Well, I made it almost two years before my passenger side headlight has started collecting water again. I had both lamps replaced in January of 2024 and thought I might be done with this problem.

Other than this issue, my car has been rock solid, but it's still annoying. I'm tempted to repair the lamp myself based on Alex T's post, but since I've still got warranty coverage, I'll take my shot with BMW first.

same problem on my 2023 230i xdrive with only about 15,000 miles on the odometer! BMW doesn’t want to replace either one of them under warranty for the same cracks on the bottom side of the headlights despite there being no exterior damge to headlights or the front of the car or the bumper or any thing else that would indicate that this is anything other than a manufacturing defect. The price of 2 headlights with labor at BMW ridiculous prices is $6,000 for a non warranty repair.

They don't have a choice in the matter. It's a warranty item, there's an open TSB. Cite the TSB, and then call the corporate office if they still decline. Start dropping complaints in with MOT/DOT and/or NHTSA. This is how recalls and warranty extensions happen. Can't stay quiet about it.

Holy Cow! I thought that worst case, BMW would pressure test the lamp and replace if it fails the test....... There's no way the headlight in the photo would pass.

Curiosity got the best of me. I was doing some other work on my car and decided to remove the headlight with the condensation to check if I could see a defect. As soon as the light was out of the car, it was impossible to miss the crack in the housing at the bottom outside corner. It was inches long.

Just received my car on July 19th and already having headlight condensation on the passenger side. 3500 miles. Probably going to wait until the winter months are through then go to BMW to get it replaced. Crazy how they haven't fixed this yet

I wouldn't wait. Water near electronics aren't good in general. Who knows what may happen in that timeframe.

What should cause this? Are your cars outside all the time? Might it have to do something with cleaning the car with high pressure?
Yes, I know the sealing should be better, but I am still wondering where it might come from.
My M240i is now 3 months old. So far I have no condensation yet.

From my understanding the headlight housing eventually cracks and that's what causes it. Not sure what causes the cracking

I've never had high pressure cleaning on my car so that can't be it.

I've had my car since early April, but only 2200 miles on it.
So far, after 7 months of ownership, no issues with the lights or the suspension thump.
I am wondering if the smooth roads I am on contribute to this and if the bad roads in some areas accelerate both issues?

The cause is a design flaw with how the bumper is mounted over the headlight housings. It has nothing to do with how you drive or care for your car.

Bmw really needs a fix for this because its a problem that will persist on all cars until they do.

6XXX miles I haven't seen it yet but I garage my car.

We recently had some pretty bad rain in the UK and my headlights took a beating... Mind you both of these headlights have already been replaced once by BMW (2023 model 20k miles).
Car is booked in at BMW next week, this fault is crazy must be costing BMW so much money.

So interested to know what actually causes this - but I doubt we will ever really know. My 2025 is at 7XXX miles and I have yet to see any condensation.

My car is always garaged at night, but also driven in the rain often.

Same here, I am curious what causes it AND why hasn't it been resolved by now. I assume the same thing is an issue with the G87?

Sounds like we need to develop a step by step DIY forum fix for when we are out of warranty!

A user on a UK forum was told by dealer there was recent revision but still a lot of the previous in the supply chain so dealer took a while to get a current one.
