When I think back to the E46 M3 days, the two colors that make that car for me are Phoenix Yellow and my namesake.

let's hope the individual selection redeems BMW. Phoenix on this car would be killer, not that there's a snowball's chance in hell of that ever happening.

Excluding the most mature interior option, Vernsaca for an additional tacky highlight combination is another BMW disappointment for me. Lets hope that when we can buy BMWNA delivers more.

Very true!

Cognac interior with many exterior colors are classic combo!

The black interior is more sporty, and the cognac are more classy.

But I don't think the all lost sale will translate to new M4 sales.

I know its subjective but the cognac looks utterly fake and cheesy. Its not a natural look or baseball glove in any way.

Nobody is running for an M4. Its a butt ugly turd. Yes, it has a few options that we all want but the M3 is a far better looking car with the same available options, even with the extra two doors.

The M2 is always going to be limited in terms of colors and options compared to the M3/4. It’s the entry M! Why buy an m4 if you can get the same options in the m2 for 15-20k less and similar performance? BMW knows what they are doing. The fact that we are getting colors like São Paulo yellow, frozen colors, blues, reds, different greys is awesome. The f87 got like what? A white, grey, blue, black, and a sunburst orange? Only black interior. BMW actually offered a lot of new stuff compared to the previous gen. I honestly can’t think of an option this car lacks that’s a deal breaker

Nope, those pictures dont change anything. I have seen plenty of pictures and in person (I actually think they look worse in person). As I said, its a turd (with a hideous pig nose/beaver front). If you like it, thats your prerogative. Not sure why you are here talking the G87 down when your ownership of a G82 lets us know how you feel. Maybe you should get over to the G82 forum with others of like minds and opinions.

Moving up a performance / pricing teir and losing features that a cheaper car has is odd to me. Other than the engine....what features are you getting that the 240i doesn't have ?

That’s the whole point. The goal isn’t for you be able to buy a “cheaper M3/4.” It’s so that the M2 differentiates itself as the entry level M car. Totally agree, you get more options on a $30k Honda but it’s not driving like an M lol.

The M4 is ugly. Ugliest of the 3, except the vert sort of works. The M2 is no looker, though. If you think it is, you should audition for the South Park smug episode. The M3 is least offensive because it's actually fairly attractive once past nose.

I just spent 2 days at Indy with BMW hopping between M2/3/4/5. I will echo the sentiment on the Cognac feeling cheap. It's not necessarily that it feels cheap, it's that it makes you notice how much cheaper the leather in the M2 is vs. the other cars. This contrast draws you to the same delta when you interact with the plastics - namely, the door cards. If you're not hopping in and out of the cars, you'd not notice. However, going from an M3/4 with full leather to the M2 is an eye opener.

BMW's done a pretty good job of adding a lot of things not available on the F87 to the G87. Personally, I'd have a car with no HUD, fewer colors and made in Germany if it meant the leather and the interior plastics were the same. I'd even pay more for it.
