Regular Xdrive with Buckets really gonna close the gap to the M4

I think to avoid cannibalizing M4 sales they should offer the g87 XDrive with ONLY a manual transmission 😀

TBD. There's a slim chance they introduce it mid cycle during MY26 production. If however they continue with the same new model year cadence then yes, it will be MY27 that goes into production Aug '26.

Base MT M3/4 have 360 cams as an option so it's not tied to which transmission the car has. It's simply cost cutting, but the good news is BMW, believe it or not, does listen to customers. If there's enough outcry from potential buyers, they will consider offering it. We saw this with the F87, people vehemently complained the OG M2 was lacking lots of features and BMW addressed many of them with the M2c. So, if you really want to see 360 cams, speak up, start threads, start polls, etc.

Case in point, read what BMW's CEO of M said regarding customer feedback back in 2018 for the debut of the F87 M2c.

"Frank van Meel (BMW M CEO): We have most definitely taken notice of what the current customer base and community has shared with us. We looked at where we could improve the package for the M2 Competition. The main change following comments was adding the M mirrors. The majority of the customers wondered why they were missing on the base M2 Coupé and therefore we added them. They are the same mirrors used on the M3 and M4 models. Other changes such as the new M Sports seats, M sports brake kit and the tweaked suspension will also be greatly appreciated by the customer base. Especially those would like to have that additional performance, a key asset of the Competition range."

Yeah, don’t think I will be buying a car from them. 5 years is crazy long. I am assuming the lack of allocations is due to the amount of cars they sell or the size of the dealership?

no offense but do you live in middle out of nowhere? 5 years wait is insane for any car. why not just go out of town or state buy one and drive back? There are so many M2 in Southern California dealers

How can a wait even be 5 years when they might not even make the car anymore after that long?

I waited like 2 years for my 21 Bronco. M2 only took 4 months

That’s what I did. Walked in and out with one 4-5 days ago.

Like I said that was only 1 of 3 dealerships in my area. I decided not to go with them. I also think they lied because on their website they show they have a Vegas Red coming in. I went with another dealership in my area.

Buying a new car is a big commitment and sometime stressful to find right deal. Hopefully you will be able to obtain your dream car. Just know that there are other dealers around who can provide better customer service/ price/ experience etc ,not give you a run around etc.
