Obviously not now😁, was just letting the member know that was asking to wait til the official promos were out next year or to your point, until it's actually released.

This, I bet they go hybrid to get the extra power bump. It’s the way they will convert you to battery - sneak it into the performance cars. I don’t hate electric or hybrid, but the M cars are heavy enough!

In the current tune 550Nm at 5870RPM correlates to 453bhp as follows: Torque (Nm) x 2 x Pi x Engine_Speed (RPS) = Power(W) 550 x 2 x 3.14159 x 5870 / 60 = 338,088W = 338kW = 453bhp 550 x 2 x 3.14159 x 6130 / 60 = 353,063W = 353kW = 473bhp The peak power at 6250RPM is sort of a nominal value, as the same peak power is nominally made at the end of the torque plateau. |

Based on the nominal specs and dyno results published so far, you can pretty well overlay the S58 curves in the M2/3/4. Whether they all make more torque and the torque plateau ends at a different engine speed above the quoted value may just indicate the engines really have the same tune and they all will make over 473bhp. So far it seems all dyno results that have been published have more than the quoted max torque above the top torque plateau speed. Quoted max power is fairly academic when torque is known, as it is just derived from the measured torque value. I’m not convinced the “power upgrade” will be easy to detect or measure, it may be more a paper exercise which is just a re-stating of the current engine output in a less conservative manner, with variation from engine to engine being more than the quoted power increase. |

The torque curves (and consequently the power curves) are therefore going to match all the way up to the end of the torque plateau where the boost will be curtailed to reduce the torque and hence the power. It remains to be seen from a large sample of S58 dyno plots whether the nominal max boost pressure does end consistently at different RPMs for the M2 vs M3/4 engines, or whether there is more variation between individual engines. |
