The oil/filter and diff fluid service -- my car has a 6-speed -- is run of the mill servicing to some degree, but I'm really interested in what effect (if any) this action has on the car: "Deactivate the 1200 MI. RiS via diagnostic path".
I'm pretty sure that just means they turn off the notification.

Break in service scheduled for May 31 !

Any difference in performance to be expected after the break in service or is it just different engine oil from the break in oil that will be installed ? Any software changes ?

No performance difference really. Just like the video above explains...
-Engine Oil Change
-Diff Oil Change
-Computer diagnostic and battery test

I just hit over 2000 miles in my G87 and with the manual, you do need to rev it high (above 4k rpm) for it to go, but when it goes it's definitely quick.

Wouldn't be surprised if that all it means. Had several dealer employees say it is more than that though, that it unleashes/unlocks more power. I don't think they are lying just probably repeating what they've been told.

Do you think having an f87 m2c and g87 is redundant or are they different enough to keep both?

Great question. The two cars are definitely different but at the end of the day, they serve the same purpose. It's not like one is a four door AWD all weather sedan while the other is a truck, both basically do the same thing. I suppose if you're a collector, keep both, but I would get one and spend the money on something drastically different, like a Bronco Raptor or something.

Damn, this is starting to make me think about getting one. If I could just get over my hatred of the ID8 dash.

And I've said it before ... black is the way to go on the G87. Really hides/blends the choppy/angular lines that I don't love.

Did your F87C have the stock suspension?

I'm considering getting a DCT M2 when prices drop to have along side. Mostly to see what all the fuss is about with the DCT, and to preserve the last of a breed.

Is it better than the M3C? Or similar in driving characteristics?
I’m confused now. Even a i5 is coming out soon. Heard good things about it but need to do more research. I’m planning to upgrade next year or so. Will be looking at the new LCI M3C and i5’s M variant if any.

Too many options!

Yes, my F87C was on the stock suspension. Even with the stock suspension on the G87, the handling characteristics are much improved. It's up to you if you prefer being able to put down power or kick the tail out at will.
Now mind you, if you know what you're doing, the F87C can handle like a dream. You just adjust your driving style. However it simply doesn't compare with the G87, you have to remember the F87 came out in 2016 and the G87 in 2023, 7 plus years is a ton in technical upgrades so that's to be expected.

Better than a G80C? That simply depends on your preference as they are two different cars doing two different things. For example, if I needed 4 full seats and a fifth on occasion, the G80C makes much more sense. I don't & I need a manual so in my use case, G87 all the way.

Fair point, but the M2C has upgrades over the original M2 suspension from 2016.

I have the M Performance suspension on my 2021 M2C, and it's such a blast to drive. So much better than the stock suspension. I'd obviously need to drive a G87 to see if the handling was that much better.

Enjoying your comparison posts, thanks. Keep 'em coming!

Just looked at the owners manual. It suggests launch control is present during break in.

"Do not use Launch Control during the break-in."
