Personally I’m not a fan of a sun roof on most cars, but I also dislike convertibles
As for the sunroof it’s more weight higher up the car, doesn’t make much of a difference on this car as can’t be fully retracted due to the coupe roof line.

And just look at the weather this last week…

Sunroof

The actual sunroof is made from glass. The shade, which when closed, blocks light from entering the cabin, does retract all the way. It provides a large expanse of clear glass over the front seats. However, the actual glass roof does not retract for the full amount of the roof opening. Being a 2-door coupe, and given the downward slope of the roof to the rear window, there is simply not enough room to retract the glass all the way. If BMW had decided to have the roof glass retract on the outside of the car it could have retracted all the way.

There are some benefits to having this sliding/rear tilting glass roof: 1. if you tilt open the rear section of the glass it will reduce the air turbulence inside the cabin if you want to have the side windows open. and 2. You might be able to hear the exhaust sound a little more with the rear glass section tilted open.

As has been stated, there also disadvantages. Individual decision, except I guess in the U.S.

An issue for me, which applies to some degree to nearly every car, is that the rear of the car gets dirty very easily. I know this is due to the air turbulence converging behind the car.

I wonder if the people who have changed the OEM standard rear lip spoiler to either none, or a taller one, have noticed any difference?

I agree, I have always disliked sunroofs in my vehicles. Maybe it's the time of year, but I have been enjoying driving with it open in my m240ix.

i would say off the top of my head...

1) no oil dipstick. like wtf?
2) tiny gas tank
3) parking break turns on automatically when backing out of the garage sometimes
4) i wish the steering wheel column adjust was electric and could be programmed with the seat memory.
5) slightly buggy id8.
6) have to reach too far back for the seatbelt, but thats more my height problem than a bmw problem.

other than that, the car has been beyond phenomenal in all other aspects.

At the price point it should have / had…

- Proper lane assist
- Cooled / ventilated seats
- Better sounding audio
- Power adjustable steering wheel
- More / better ambient lighting
- More paint / interior color choices
- Properly aligned fuel hatch
- Prowely aligned wheel arch trim

Wish it had…

- Louder factory exhaust
- Less brake dust
- Easier to use self parking
- Faster moving seats
- More options for driving gauges
- Traditional exhaust tips
- Traditional gear selector
- Traditional HVAC buttons

Don’t get me wrong I love the car otherwise!

.
Yup fuel tanks is small especially when it gives a low fuel warning so early. And to add to that gives 2 messages one for fuel and one for directions to a fuel station.

I got used to the seat belts by reaching with the arm nearest the belt under my shoulder rather than the traditional way of opposite arm over my shoulder.

Paint chips easily.
Tyres noisy.
Lights good on dip but high beam little better.
Electric seats take an age to slide back and forward.
A few creaks now and again.
Rear screen often mists up while driving unless HRW is on all the time.
Gear stick replaced by a sort of 'clitoral nub'
Got it stuck on a piece of boggy grass despite 4 driven wheels and Michelin tyres.

I also dislike the soot chucking 'dieselesque' exhaust pipes.

The car should come with 4 circular pipes as standard.

That's only for vehicles equipped with Run-Flats

When you order your car without run-flats, the speed limiter is raised.

Are the wheel arch trim spats not aligned properly on many people’s cars?

Yes have been some posts about it.

Coconut posted a really helpful DIY fix.

Hopefully and probably doesn’t apply to all.

I've been reading this thread for a few days and some of the original dislikes make it sound like this is your first car.

Windshield wipers not extending to the edge of the windshield? I've never seen a car that does that.

Ouch that fuel cap is awful and very noticeable.
Any pictures of what you mean by the watch guards
