Based on the quality of previously owned cars that came out of Germany, I have no issue with giving Mexico a shot here. Plus, I really wouldn't mind doing Mexican delivery and driving it back!

In case you were even slightly serious, that possibility was ruled out long ago. The G42 and G87 will be built on the RWD CLAR architecture.

i would guess they will just build the M version in the one of the plants the normal version is made in.

I think theres a definite possibility they end up making future M3s in the mexico plant if it made sense to them financially. They area already shipping engines into north america for the X3/X4 M and half the supply chain is here.

I'd guess the 2 coupe series will all be built in mexico and shipped to wherever it needs to go. Its not going to be a volume model being RWD and sharing a ton of G20 parts it makes a ton of sense.

Makes sense. Isn't the new 2 series being built in Mexico?

I'm mexican and I agree top of the line products should be made in the country the company is based in. That's a must and typical in every industry.
As for regular BMWs I have no problem. Mexico offers serious quality in manufacturing.

+1. They'll also never make ///M cars with AWD, hybrid engines, and automatic transmissions. *Laughs in Spanish*

I assume that the Extra Storage package will be standard?
And instead of tire inflation fix kit there will just be a fix kit?

I owned made in Germany 2008 GTI. Fit and finish was good new but had a lot of issues. Bought Mexican mk7 gti. Fit and finish is superb as good as the German one and zero problems in 18 months. My German gti was getting its engine rebuilt, steering wheel replaced, tpms failures, moisture in lights, headlight bulb out by 18 months. So yes it should come from Germany like Champagne should come from France but honestly I have owned 4 German BMWs and they were all unreliable compared to Japanese cars and the Mexican gti is outstanding. So not really sure about quality from Germany. My new German bmw had fuel pump failure, coil issues, rattles, seat frame loose, etc etc etc
